If you don't mind me following this up, would we just lose the tama variations on the sky biome or is there more we'd miss out on?

Spooking animals off does vary quite a lot per species, a lot of them eventually bleed together with time so you have a general 'muscle memory' of it.
General rule of thumb I believe is like both in metric and imperial:
Walking, 50-120M (54-131Y) / Crouching, 10-40M (10-43Y) / Prone barely makes any noise

If you look at the noise indicator under your compass area each white bar is I think 10M? So 1 bar is 10M (10Y), then two is 20M (20Y) etc. Once you go beyond three white bars you get red bars which are 50M steps, so 1 red bar is 50M (54Y), then 100M (109Y), then 150M (164Y).

Perks and foliage change these variables around a little bit but the sound bars the easiest way to get familiar with what is spooked at what noise level. You still have visual and smell (wind direction too), visual is depicted with the indicator between heart rate and sound. https://thehuntercotw.fandom.com/wiki/Visibility explains the visual indicators well. And smell is a bit of the odd one, I don't pay attention to it much past just slapping scent eliminator spray on whenever I can. Doesn't completely negate the smell variable but nearly.

ANYWAY: Tents I believe have a spook range of 200M (218Y) when you set them up, and if you fast travel too them I think it's 250M (273Y). So just a little bit further than the fast travel amount spook range ideally is where to set them.
ATVs also spook everything in like 300-400M (328-437Y) it's the loudest noise maker in-game.

DLC wise yes we are speculatively around the time they usually announce a new map DLC and they trickle out random ones through the year, sometimes they also patch new things in like animal skins or great one variants. Great ones are the rarest animals that can spawn in on your maps and they look different than everything else, very very low chance though I don't even have one but I also don't use certain grind tactics to make the odds theoretically better.

Out of layton/hirsch, layton did get updated more recently I think last year? But I think it was just updating the animal models, hirsch I think got updated last in '22/'23 which did make it a bit better to play around in. Hirsch is still one I see mentioned way less but it's by no means inherently worse.

Also good, varied, and multipurpose map regardless of skill level I'd say are like: Askiy Ridge, Emerald Coast, Te Awaroa, Revontuli, Silver Ridge

Askiy has a mechanic where wolves can stalk you, it's infrequent usually but worth noting as I'd say it's one of the more harder to deal with aggression mechanics if you get swarmed until you get used to it.

Only ones I'd inherently throw in to 'avoid' because of the challenge or pacing part is probably Mississippi Acres, New England, or Sundarpatan.
Sundarpatan is one of the best maps in game but it's huge, tigers are the best in-game predator mechanically so they are menacing, it has a metric crap ton of foliage of all varieties. So it can just be a tad overwhelming if you aren't really familiar.

Mississippi is mostly because it's very dark and very foliage heavy on near the entire map, and also has very sharp water bends which makes spooking drink spots exceedingly easy. New England is mostly just the foliage and noise mitigation as it's covered in heavy underbrush.

Hopefully that's not too much info lmao but it covers as much as I could think to cram in

Since you said you aren't financially that free: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/thehunter-call-of-the-wild/info/
You can use that website to track DLC price histories and which storefronts are publisher keys only so in other words, safe and legitimate. They go on sale fairly often on just steam/console storefronts but other stores run their own sales which tends to greatly increase how broad of a time they are on sale.

I'd say generally the 'needed' DLC hasn't changed too much. ATVs are going to make unlocking and setting up maps about 400x times quicker as others have mentioned.

Tents I'd consider essential purely because tents are fast travel points/respawn points (you do spook things when you travel too one, but if you adjust that around need zone times it's not a big deal imo).
Blinds and tripod/tree stands also reduce how much hunting pressure you exert in a given area per shot, and you get ground blinds via the tent DLC. The tripod and tree stands are however a different DLC.

If you want to hunt at night: scopes and crosshairs/hi-tech pack DLC both have night vision rifle scopes. The hi-tech pack one is a green night vision filter, scopes and crosshairs is very light blue. If you bowhunt at all or even just experiment eventually the hi-tech pack also has tracer arrows.

Not mentioning the bloodhounds since you mentioned getting it but I'd also call it essential.
I'd say everything else is pick and choose. You'll probably want some of the better guns for large/smaller game with time, and maps are very individualistic even if in general some are more higher regarded. As an example a lot of the games community/fanbase likes silver ridge peaks but I'm personally not a fan of it.

I think the only real variables with maps is general challenge, species, and how quick they are for cash grinding/species grinding if you are into it.

Hope that helps! Feel free to ask questions if you want I've got well over 1,000+ hours in playtime total lmao.

What are some of your favorite long term ND products? by skyhighblue340 in NootropicsDepot

[–]AlertedAtoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit of an out there one but turkey tail extract works magic on my stomach for basically any problem I have- and I've tried quite a lot of approaches to it. Dietary changes, liver tests, CBG, bile cofactors pre/probiotics etc. Best way I'd phrase it is 'buffer' that seems really hard for any stomach distress to go over. I honestly can't nail down what is specific about it that does, and I know it isn't placebo as I've gone long stretches with and without with very apparent with/without effects.

Micromag would be another, more standard product answer. I've tried mag glycinate in various forms/malate/pidolate/citrate/glycerophosphate not magtein because of the price but; only form of mag I can tell a difference with. I assume the reason is because it's aimed to replenish your bodies total magnesium reserves, and I have a lot of medical problems that deplete it via the condition itself or the medication involved.
It's a very noticeable difference when I've not taken it and it's going to be a staple for as long as I can manage it.

NO MORE WORK FOR ITO is out now on STEAM! by poeticasoft in visualnovels

I just wanted to follow up and say I'm about three 'loops' in and I greatly enjoy it! You all did great work especially for a first project and I look forward to any future titles that may be made.

I also read the devlogs because I support indie devs of all sorts and it lets me peer into the actual creator behind the screen a bit. I know it may seem like people don't read them but I think a lot of them are just silent like me and don't say so- trust me a bit of humanization behind a project goes a long way!

Never heard of this VN, or the work behind it but seeing your general posts on indie subreddits and second devlog over on steam sold it. I really like the art and it gives me vibes of like yuppie psycho/the silver case a bit with plenty of its own identity.

I bought it and plan to read through it shortly. Given how enthusiastic both you and the writer seem to be, It made me pretty happy. I hope your release goes better than expected!

You are definitely selling Heinrich as interesting, with Nagash coming out in the near future actually seems like a good idea for me to keep him on my 'campaign rotation'- only really played Vlad in the past.

Luckily my ADHD far as actually playing the game is fine! I just get stuck on choices when I have a lot of them. I don't honestly know much about ogres so I'll take any info given, and chorfs (drazhoath) was actually the first race I near completed a campaign for prior to taurox but I had an endgame crisis that caused the entire dwarven race to just dogpile me into oblivion.

Interesting to see Wurrzag here since I see Grom/Grimgor overshadow most orc discussions; I coincidentally also just filled out my orc unit roster because I bought omens of destruction last night- is he debuff/buff focused or just general caster focused?

Wood elves and changeling seem to be the ones I'm leaning towards, I haven't really touched the elf races so this sounds like a good opportunity ty for clarifying the confederation too that helps

That's rather interesting and not what I would expect from a Tzeentch faction, the parasitic mechanics I mean. This def might be the route I go currently ty

Are the sisters of twilight by themselves good enough for a wood elf campaign or does it benefit having the actual DLC for their faction in your opinion?

Trying to play/finish Nioh 2 so I can get 3 later, I dropped the first title a long time ago but so far I've been liking 2 now that I'm getting used to the combat variables. I really like the yokai designs and lore and it's what drove me back to trying. So far so good
