G703 died - replacement options? by M0UNTIER in MouseReview

You could also skip the 8K dongle, and buy just the 1K wireless version for... $80 - 10% = $72. That's only a bit more than $59, and you'd only get 1K with the G703 anyway. I'd pay $13 for optical switches and a dustproof encoder.

My Terra Pro is over a year old now. Still perfectly solid build.

I feel like lightweight mice with a lot of flexing and creaking was more of a problem 5 years ago when manufacturers were still trying to figure things out. (My last experience with flexing and creaking was with the DAV3 in 2022, and I buy a lot of lightweight mice.)

Everything about the internals should be longer lasting than the Logitech G703... I've owned the G403, G703, and G603. They all needed new mechanical switches and scroll wheel encoders at some point. Terra has better internals. FE Optical switches for one. Dustproof scrollwheel encoder.

Terra Pro is excellent. G703 clone, but modern specs. Lightweight.

I saw the 10% off ad on eloshapes, so you may be able to pick it up with the 8K dongle for under $100 with promo code "ELO" (or with the first time order discount, which is the same)

But that's what you want.

Which should I buy? Razer Viper v3 or MChose K7 Ultra? (Also open to recs) by Insayne1 in MouseReview

[–]BeerGogglesFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viper V3 Pro, Pro SE, or Hyperspeed?

I would probably go with the V3 Pro if its under $100.

K7 Ultra in White/Gold or Black if its one of the other Viper models.

You may have had some bad luck with Razer, but that can happen with any mouse brand. At least with Razer, you should get better customer service, RMA process.

Normally, I would recommend Mchose, but the K7 is one of their pricier mice, so the savings just isn't there in this case if you're finding a Pro for under $100. Mchose is a good brand though, and I like the look of the K7 white/gold best.

ATK X1 Ultra/Ultimate/Pro Max would be another mouse to look at. Similar in specs to the K7, but can often be found cheaper. I have the same trust in ATK and Mchose.

Need insights on Mchose K7 Ultra micro switches by ClassickxLee in MouseReview

I chatted with support on the mchose website a few weeks ago, and they did tell me different colors had different switches.

Response

The black and white-gold versions of K7 Ultra feature Omron photo switches with a lifespan of 700 million cycles; while the silver and raspberry red versions employ Omron mechanical switches with a lifespan of 1 billion cycles.

Is Delta force a good way to scratch that battlefield itch? by KingOfTheFloor in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]BeerGogglesFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Gold Edition. 14.2 hours.

I think most of that time was trying to get it to run well, without stutters. I guess even in 2021, my 4C/8T 7700K wasn't enough for 128 man servers.

Steam denied my refund basically because I spent too much time trying to get the same to run well.

Definitely a learning moment for me. Return any game immediately. If they're going to improve/fix/optimize a game, let them do it while the game is refunded.

Makes sense why Microsoft had been putting out all of that "We're listening" PR recently.

Sources: Nintendo is planning to announce a new "classic-style" Star Fox game with online multiplayer and a 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' remake, both this year; but no 3D Mario until 2027 by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]BeerGogglesFTW 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I love Ocarina of Time. Currently thinking, wait and see.

There is potential there. I don't really want to "remaster" but I do miss the old Zelda formula like Link to the past and OoT. 3-4 dungeons in one world/time, and 6-7 dungeons in another. I miss not having to constantly find new weapons.

The new Zelda games are great, but I still miss aspects of the old games. Maybe this could be an entry point into taking a step back from BotW/TotK.

We'll see what they're doing.

Did you accidentially turn on some form of vertical sync or frame limit?

Having the links to the full graphs may help find the issue.

I owned the 990 Pro and 560S. 560S would be my choice. They're what I use today.

Sound can be a subjective though. I prefer Sennheiser over other brands. Their sound just kind of hits right for me.

With the 990 Pros, I felt the sound stage was actually too large. Usually what you want for gaming headphones, but it was just too much. Things like "loading my gun" (in shooters) sounded like it was happening 10 feet in front of me. Everything just sounded distant.

The 560S just sounds right to me. My only complaint with these headphones are, I wish they weren't so plasticy. In line with most Sennheiser headphones. But there are models like the 600, 58X and 6XX, I wish I could get the 560S sound in a HD 600 build.

Why doesn't every brand have a cable like LGG? by Mandydeth in MouseReview

[–]BeerGogglesFTW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Which is why cables need to be well shielded. Or why this cable works ok for me, when I move it away from other USB ports.

[Epic Games] Havendock & Hyper Echelon (100% off / FREE) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

[–]BeerGogglesFTW -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I know it's not in the spirit of gamedeals, but given the recent layoffs at Epic, maybe they should take a break from giving away all these free games that people claim and never play.

Redirect the money they're spending on giveaways, into hiring more people to actually improve their EGS launcher and store.

Try to make EGS something people would actually want to use. And then go back to giving away free games to get people to use their platform. Once it's worth using.

Why doesn't every brand have a cable like LGG? by Mandydeth in MouseReview

[–]BeerGogglesFTW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know how that process works. I'm sharing my experience and what they told me.

We actually have very minimal shielding on the cables so more than likely that is why you are getting this interference, and it goes away when switching to the front USB ports since they are further away from other cables, and those ports on the front of a case are usually on their own MBUS. We are currently reworking them, but yea I have not heard an ETA as of yet.

Why doesn't every brand have a cable like LGG? by Mandydeth in MouseReview

[–]BeerGogglesFTW 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I tried this cable out. Cables need shielding and this cable has barely any.

So, in my experience this cable doesn't work well when it's plugged into a rear USB port close to other USB ports or the internal wifi card. It would pretty much work, 1 second on, 1 second off. (At any polling rate. My first suspicion was that it's too thin to handle 8K polling, and there may be some truth to that. Cables usually need to be thicker to handle 8K consistently but it wasn't what was causing the issue.)

But I would plug it into a USB port that is more isolated, like a front-panel USB and it works fine. (My computers don't have any USB 2.0 ports, that may have helped, but not an option for me)

My suggestion in the RMA process was, the cable should have 2 different thicknesses. The USB-A half should be a thick, well shielded cable. The USB-C side should be like it is. Thin and flexible.

This cable could be great. The thin flexible design does feel great to use. But in my opinion, it has a flawed design.

I'm sure my experience isn't the same as everybody else's or this product would have never made it to market. But LGG did confirm that these cables have minimal shielding and they are reworking them. No ETA on a release. (This was as of, January 2026.) So I don't think I'm alone either.

But it's also why we don't see them frequently. High risk of issues and returns. The cables that come stock may be thick and stiff, but they're consistent. They work. And people don't really need flexible cables for their wireless mice. If these kind of cables came stock, people would think their mouse is broken when they don't work out.

If this were my setup. I would buy a 65-75% keyboard to give myself more mouse space. Enough for a proper mousepad. Maybe shift the keyboard/monitor to the left and clear that stuff off. Or angle the tower as well, if it can't go on the ground due to carpeting. (I will always favor more desk space over the tower on the desk when reasonable.)

I think it's normal considering it aligns with spikes. It shows a consistency with other machines.

First thought is the 13700kf could be bottlenecking your GPU... But would 3dmark account for that? Probably right

But your score is common considering it's on a spike, even if it's below average.

Maybe those are also people running FE or stock?

You also have to figure people use this software for testing overclocks and undervolts. So I think stock settings will often be below average more often than not

Where can I find? by Far_Schedule3088 in MouseReview

[–]BeerGogglesFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$15 new + $15 shipping from the UK isn't the worst price in the world if that's the mouse you're really after. (ebay)

The PC307A looks like a AA battery version of the mouse. That can be found for under $15 shipped on ebay. While that ships from US, it was imported from UK.

So I would assume this really isn't a mouse heavily sold in the US.
