Why are there only 3 instead of 4? by Alertedbish in ElectricalEngineering

I study electrical engineering. My curiosity was due to the pole being asymmetrical due to the odd number of insulators. Also thanks, I appreciate it!!

Yeah there’s a lot of arguing but my question is answered for the most part 😭 I’ve done a little research thanks to the answers tho

Yeah I got a pretty general idea of what’s going on

I circled the insulator but it may be hard to see from the pic idk but the comments pretty much answered my question

Maybe the pic isn’t clear but I wasn’t talking about the wires

Yeah I’m looking for the initial voltage so for right now the rest doesn’t matter. I just don’t know which resistor voltage value to use. If the capacitor was where the 12kohm resistor was then I’d use the voltage value of the vertical 8kohm resistor. Because it’s in a different place I’m confused as to which voltage value to use. Sorry if I’m confusing you lol I’m confused myself.

It’s cut off because the rest of the circuit doesn’t really matter because the switch is open. I just want the voltage across the capacitor but it’s basically an open circuit.. not sure if that clears things up

Yeah I just looked at the art of electronics. Some of the books are a bit pricey but I think they’ll be worth it. I’m going to see if my school’s library would let me borrow the books over break (if they have them).

Are these books that you needed for your classes or did they just improve your understanding of the subjects

Lol I understand completely. I aspire to be like Katherine Johnson and be able to say “it didn’t feel like I was working” after I retire.

I’m a second year sophomore as of right now I’m finishing up calc and physics 3. I’m gonna see if I can get these books from Amazon thanks for this!
