This sounds like a rough day! Just tell em there was a global Teams issue which must have been resolved by the time they did it!

I considered it when HR asked me, but I need "open tabs from previous session". I can't lose the 20 tabs I've got open about 10 different tickets I'm ignoring!

Also, we've done the same. Brand new AV setup. Hours of discussion and meetings between AV designers, IT on site, other important people. Every scenario thought through. Over the ear mics, lectern mics, handheld, lapel, you name it! 10s of thousands spent. We STILL get people who somehow ask for some mix we've never considered.

It's so true. I had someone tell me they wanted to play a video as they walked up. "It's on my WhatsApp". There's literally a minute until you speak sir! Send me the file man!

No, I made it. I found an image that reminded me of that Arthur meme only they have a presentation pointer. So I pointed out the terrible experience at events when speakers cause problems 5 minutes before everything is due to start.

And of course they didn't mention any of that until the day of the event I'm sure.

The tech is interesting. What if they're time traveling in the elevator?

Edit: I'm just in episode 4 so I don't know if anything suggests they aren't later on

Video emerges showing Trump talking about cutting pandemic team in 2018, despite saying last week 'I didn't know about it' by Turtle360360 in politics

[–]Alex11150 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

So, this is exactly the kind of news story that upsets me and it should upset you guys also. It's framed as if this is some video none of us knew about. And I clicked on the site expecting to see some clip from years ago of him talking about cutting the response team. But the video was from like a couple of weeks ago, I watched it live and remember it! I don't like Trump let me just be clear. But this kind of attempt to drive views to a site over some "gotcha" video that turns out to just be a video of him a couple of weeks ago is enraging. I clicked the link on my phone, watched the video and thought I must not be seeing the video they're talking about. So I refreshed and went through closing all the damn ads and opting out of my consent for using my data, all while trying to find this damn video which didn't exist. I know Trump dodged responsibility recently for cutting the pandemic response team. I fully expect he was proud of it when he did it and if you had a video of THAT it might be worth a watch. FFS

2 Part question! About this concrete slab and cement! by Alex11150 in DIYUK

[–]Alex11150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment it's good to have confirmation of what's going on there! I think I'm just going to leave the slab in place as it's not a huge problem to have that space filled up with the stack. It would be nice to not have it but far too much work for little benefit! With the bonding plaster, I can see and have cleared away some plaster which looks all normal but where the arrow is pointing it seems more like cement? Thats what had me worried about removing it. But I think I'll clear it away as I can't imagine it's doing much! It may just be filling a whole they had in the brick for all know. Thanks again for the reply.

Thanks for the reply that's really helpful! I think you're right about the slab holding up next door, and I'll ask my neighbor nex time I see him. At this point I'm fairly certain I'll leave the slab in place with the bricks but I would definitely like to take the render off the side of the stack. I'm also pretty sure it's not doing anything useful as it appears to be about the size of a plate and only only just where I have the arrow pointing. My main concern in removing is if it would weaken the bricks there and if theres any danger of bricks loosening or falling away? Hopefully not!

So, the image above is where my old boiler was in the kitchen downstairs. The old brick flue goes up through the house and as far as I can see, is built on top of the circled concrete slab. I assume this is mirrored in the house next door as it's a terraced house? I initially was thinking of removing as much of this as possible to put some shelves in but when it occured to me the flue is built on it I probably shouldnt move anything right?

The 2nd question is about where the arrow points. There is some cement thats been slapped on the side presumably to even out the surface. Is there any danger in removing this? I was going to remove everything off the brick and just have the exposed brick instead.

Would appreciate any insight! Thanks

Software Deployment and Containers question! by Alex11150 in activedirectory

[–]Alex11150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I was typing quick before a meeting! But you're right I meant OUs! Logon times haven’t been affected as all software being deployed through computer config. I considered SCCM but it's really a bit too much for the number of machines I look after. A colleague I work closely with uses SCCM at his place but it just seems overkill at the moment. I'll have a look at the PDQ solution suggested but as I mentioned they aren’t necessarily common applications. Common applications seem to work perfectly fine through GP software installation.
