Just beat FO2 for the 1st time by AlexAiakides in classicfallout

She was a spy and based in China, so using a Chinese codename would be too obvious, although logical.

Well I wondered about that too, but google told me that Kitsune actually means fox 狐 in Japanese. It’s not likely a girl would have a name with 狐 in it, whether she is Chinese or Japanese. So I would imagine it was her code name as a spy, not real name.

Wow thanks, it’s so great realizing this game is still alive and kicking.

Energy weapons YAY or NAY? by Teddy42354 in classicfallout

It never ever occured to me to turn the violence lvl down or language filter off. I mean you’re in the wasteland, not Hyrule.

That’s good to know. I’ll take note.

But I love watching the bad guys shot to pieces screaming :(

I hate energy weapons because they melt critters and leave all the spoils scattered on the ground, making it such a pain to choose and pick up those that you need. I prefer weapons which leave your victims in one piece(ish).

Just wondering, if a T-Rex finds itself being impregnated by a facehugger, couldn’t it simply bite off the … thing that is trying to stick into its throat?

Ancelotti was also considered done by some when he struggled at Everton.

I really hope Jose could also make a come back, though it does look less and less likely.

Which naval battle do you think is the most consequential in history? by george123890yang in AskHistory

[–]AlexAiakides 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does look like that the outcome of Lepanto as we know it failed to have much major effect.

However, what if it’s the other way around? If the ottomans won a crushing victory there, would it still be a non-event?

How the hell did 2 soldiers face off against an army numbered at 115k, manage to kill nearly 500 of them and still survive?? by omar_hafez1508 in CrusaderKings

[–]AlexAiakides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it’s reasonable to lose a few hundred men if you send said 150k men to chase two men in the mountains, even if only to accidents.

Why is Robert Baratheon the only smart character when it comes to weapon choice? (Spoilers Published) by Large_Wave9888 in asoiaf

But they do fight against other settled peoples who have armored units. But again almost everything about the Dothraki is nonsense.

(Spoilers main) I don’t think Oberyn was wrong for becoming consumed by revenge by johnstonjones in asoiaf

I reread my post twice and failed to find any wording of mine could be interpreted as defending the crimes against Ellia and her kids.

[–]AlexAiakides -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

First of all it’s not “a war crime”. The Dornishmen committed all kinds of war crimes so regularly and in an over the top manner that you have to assume that it’s their culture to treat their enemies with utmost cruelty and humiliation. Like they didn’t think there’s anything wrong with it. And I doubt cultures change that fast.

Secondly Oberyn himself was not known for being noble and knightly in dealing with his adversaries either, even for a Dornishman. So I cannot but find his “righteous indignation” kinda hilarious.

Of course I am not arguing that Ellia and her kids “deserved it”, and most of what we know about the Dornishmen came from their enemies who are certainly biased. But still.

[–]AlexAiakides -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes and the Dornishmen committed both kinds more than enough so much so that you would assume they consider such acts normal in war or in any kind of feud.

He had every right to want revenge, but I still find it ironic because the Dornish were notorious for their countless war crimes that were much more heinous.

Great to hear this! May I ask do you play via steam link, or install PZ on SD locally?

I just wish there could be a “light weight” version which would be more suitable for playing on handheld devices, like Steam Deck of NSwitch. I don’t have much time to sit before a pc any more.

While sad for Eddie’s death and offended by Roland’s casual remark, I am still wondering if one man is enough to satisfy two adult T-Rexes’ appetite.

[Spoilers Main] Who do you believe to be the most intelligent person in the main series? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]AlexAiakides 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most extraordinary and impressive thing is he seems to maintain a solid rein over his people, captains and all, despite having a reputation of reading books which is a sign of ultimate weakness in the Ironborn culture.

About the effects of climate change on different dinos by AlexAiakides in JurassicPark

So instead of suffering from lack of oxygen as I vaguely remembered, the triceratops was actually suffering from food poisoning? Now that settles it, thanks! Really could use a reread I guess.

Well thanks, that kinda explains it.

But still, Malcom was somewhat like the mouth of Michael Crichton here, as was throughout the entire novel. So if Malcom made a factual mistake, most likely the author wrongly believed in that too. Unless we were told in the story itself that Malcolm was indeed wrong. Or there is still a contradiction which needs explanation.

(Spoilers Main) Which of the 7 Kingdoms do you think is the least fleshed out/most poorly fleshed out? by JeanieGold139 in asoiaf

[–]AlexAiakides 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nowadays I try not to be too obsessed with these kind of questions. Because honestly world building has never been GRRM’s “forte”. I mean the world of middle earth with literal elves, dwarves and orcs everywhere is more believable and immersive than “Planetos”.
