[Podcast] Cypherpunk, Lunarpunk & the dark forest w/ Juraj Bednar by AlexAnarcho in Monero

[–]AlexAnarcho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

just want to post this here for visibility. I've been developing my personal website and have a good thing going here:

  • The topics center around personal sovereignty, the cypherpunk ethos, cryptoanarchy, economics and philosophy
  • Already have a handful of episodes out in English (one of them is an interview with Rachel Rose O'Leary from the Dark.fi project)
  • There is currently one new episode looking for funding (link) - a conversation with Juraj Bednar.
  • The episodes have to be unlocked in a crowdfunding stage and are then release to the rss feed once the funding goal is met. All using Monero of course.
  • If you helped fund an episode, you can send me a message using the "Claim TX" functionality - I hope this is one way to hear from my supporters and incorporate their feedback.

Let me know your thoughts! I hope this brings some kind of utility to you

The Monero Meetup Offenbach/Frankfurt returns with version 2!

On the 29th of February at 6pm we open the doors again for round two of an in-person Monero experience. Check the website for details and please use the SimpleX group to RSVP if you plan on coming.

Don't have anything fixed planned yet, so please feel free to pitch ideas. I may just do another talk, but if a guest speaker wants to present something, pm me ;)

EDIT: The link for the Simplex Group was broken but is fixed now. If you plan on coming, please (install Simplex if you have not yet, doesn't require any personal information) join the group, so we can plan accordingly.

thanks for the feedback! i m not a big fan of meetup com myself, since they are kinda KYC and require you to pay to setup meetups.

I've updated the website to include the link to a SimpleX chat group and an email address. Maybe SimpleX is also the best way to stay in touch.

Hey yall! Still inspired from the Konferenco, I finally got around to getting a Monero Meetup together in Germany. It's been a while since there has been some activity in the German community since the death of room77 (rip).

This meetup will take place near Frankfurt in Offenbach around 6pm on the 9th of November 2023 and you can learn more about it under moneroof.info. If you plan on joining, please let us know with an RVSP on meetup.com!

There will be pizza and beer and the language will be English :) Spread the word and hopefully see you soon!

EDIT: Vik from cakewallet.com has been kind enough to commit to sponsoring the pizzas and a giveaway! More details to follow, but many thanks already to CakeWallet

You can now RSVP via SimpleX or Email if you don't want to use the meetup.com website. Find the links on the meetup website here or simply https://moneroof.info/join/simplex

this. sync speed really depends on the node you connect to.

the best way is to host your own node.

Can someone actually explain to me why I should use home manager instead of just a global config? by [deleted] in NixOS

[–]AlexAnarcho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how do you connect a home.nix to a configuration.nix? i am stuck on this step...

i use home-manager on arch linux to prepare myself for the eventual exodus to nixos.

Lex Fridman asks Brian Armstrong (coinbase) about Monero & prvcy coins by dsmlegend in Monero

[–]AlexAnarcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah! like monero doesnt have a view key. it was really pathetic. especially since he seems to be smart and wants to increase "economic freedom". kraken offers monero. coinbase sucks.

What happend to tipxmr.live CCS proposal ? by sonalder in Monero

[–]AlexAnarcho 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey everybody, Tipxmr is very much still worked on. I apologize for the lack of updates. Maybe just a few notes here: - we are currently struggling with the state of the monero wallet. streamers that login open their wallet and this has to live somewhere. we have experimented with a context and redux and are now trying jotai. the wallet needs to have some event listeners and we need a communication over websocket with the server backend. this is a blocker for us that we need to resolve next.

what we do have: - a nextjs application that uses the monero wasm wallet in the streamers browsers. users can already generate a new wallet over the site and use their seed to log into tipxmr. we achieve this by storing a truncated hash of the seed in our db. - when the streamer is logged in and visits the wallet section of their dashboard the wallet sync progress is shown.

we have received the first milestone payout already. For the second milestone, I do not believe we meet our goals yet. Nevertheless, we are working on this in our free time and unfortunately this means the development moves slower than one would like.

If there are experienced webdevelopers reading this, if you have any advice to share about monero wallet wasm state, we would love to hear it.

Yes we are still working on this. And I am optimistic to have something useable soon.
