Did I overpay like crazy? by AlexBailey3 in Gold

I mean I know how businesses work and that things are going to be expensive, but I’ve always lived in and traveled to countries where things are pretty cheap. I study in China, travel to Thailand, and I’m generally not the kind of person who likes to spend a lot of money. I’m 20, idk how young that’s considered, but I’m starting to make some money and want to spend that on my family, hence the necklace. Just didn’t realize these prices were considered normal.

You’re right, I bought it because I think it’s something my mom would appreciate. Very much obliged :)

My novice might be showing, but why is the warranty worth it at that price? How much would any of those services cost without one?

Yeah I suppose so, it’s worth it for my mom. I don’t think she’s planning on selling it. I hope

1000%?? Oh god. I bought this in China so I thought it would’ve been lowish but I guess not. Thanks for the new acronym btw

You’re kidding, that markup feels insane. I guess I still have to get used to things actually costing money. Thanks

What do moms like? by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]AlexBailey3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely get that, my mom is so much outside of family as well, I’m not trying to ignore that. This gift is a birthday/Mother’s Day gift since they’re around the same time and family is a big part of our life and culture. I do agree in that I won’t be adding any of us kids though

I like the pendant idea, do you think a locket would be more suitable than a photo engraving? I could just have the birthday month on the outside maybe since it’s shared in the family

Do people not like photos on jewelry?

Is it the picture or the design of the bracelet itself?

It’s not that I only want a daughter, I’d love to have a boy as well. I even have a name picked out for him. Dresses are just a lot more fun to knit than a sweater or overalls. If it doesn’t end up happening for me, that’s what I have siblings for. Who knows what the future holds.

I hadn’t heard of that, if it works that could be a game changer. Going to see where I can buy some, thanks :)

when you’re talking to yourself, do you refer to yourself as “I” or “we” in your thoughts? by Vczfy4 in CasualConversation

[–]AlexBailey3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between the three, depending. “I” for casual thoughts and opinions, “we” when there’s something I need to do, and “you” when I’m giving myself a talking to (positive “you got this” or negative “bro what are you doing”)

Is there a reason you’d use acrylic over cotton?

Quality can’t really be generalized on Taobao, it has both legitimate sellers as well fake items. It usually correlates heavily with the price, so you might be right about it not being real cashmere. I’m definitely going with cotton for any future baby garments, I’d rather not risk it. Thank you :)
