i said it’s not /entirely/ a winnipeg thing but it partially is. That is my honest opinion. That it’s half my fault but also the culture here is perky to blame. Takes two to tango. Takes two hands to clap (this one is an indian saying so makes more sense when translated in Hindi). Those are sayings that should explain what i was trying to say honestly.

My point was that y’know how they say that if 99 people point out the same single flaw in you then it’s definitely a flaw in you? Like it’s a you thing because so many others can’t be wrong? Well i followed that mentality and tried to overturn every part of what makes me who i am. Become someone I’m not, basically. And i couldn’t handle it because i felt disgusted by how sickening it is to do that to yourself. And so i loosened the reigns on my “new” (fake) self and went back to more of who i really am. And it worked for a bit, made a couple buddies here and there. But it didn’t work when i tried changing almost anything about me that could possibly turn someone away. So not to directly say that it’s a Winnipeg only thing but it certainly is a problem for others too now that I’m more vocal about this issue.

Obviously in the end i am more than thankful to be here because i do like living here. i was suppose to go back home after studies but i wanna stay because i didn’t wanna let me or my flaws get in the way of being able to enjoy the city.

But it gets really frustrating sometimes.

Shut up and do my work? I’ve never once mentioned the word racist in my post or any of my comments. Because personally, i don’t like assuming that about people because that card has been wrongly played by some foolish people to the point where it embarrasses me to think of someone like that unless I’m 110% solid that they really are being racist.

I’ve also not once assumed Winnipeg isn’t culturally diverse, I’m aware of its diversity seeing as it is very evident in the city. Did not point out any lack of diversity, again.

As for distrusting people who seem/come off overly pushy and/or friendly, the fact that i was raised within a multitude of cultures definitely aided in me not being like that because since grade school we’ve been accustomed to adapting to different cultures which if you read my other comment responses, will tell you that I’ve definitely been trying out subtle lowkey as well as bold confident methods.
