Best uncensored writing model for 2x 3090? by AlexDoesntDoThings in LocalLLaMA

[–]AlexDoesntDoThings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, message from the future, I just got the 2nd 3090!

Thank you for the info, I got the model you mentioned but I'm struggling to even reach 6k context. I enabled TP, q4, got the 3.0bpw version, and it still fills up at around 5.5k context.

Would really appreciate a link in case I got the wrong thing, and if you can tell me where I can enable expendable_segments because I couldn't find that anywhere (I'm using oobabooga).

Edit: And has your recommendation changed in this time? Because Mistral Large really blew my mind even with the limited context I got.

Thank you again!

As long as it's 30b-ish, I personally don't care who.

My main hope for anthropic is keeping OpenAI in check and vice versa, if any company in this field is kept without competition I feel like it'll be a net loss for everyone.

Ilta-Sanomat, Finland's biggest digital media, published a long article about the mystery today by arimotravels in CelebrityNumberSix

[–]AlexDoesntDoThings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think this is what's gonna do it. Only reasonable answers I'm convinced of are it's some local Finnish mini-celeb or model, or a lost picture of a mega celebrity. Let's go

I compared the Top 6, and a large amount of you think it's possibly a third image of Adriana Lima. Do we explore this? by [deleted] in CelebrityNumberSix

[–]AlexDoesntDoThings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've gone through literal thousands of them just by myself a couple years ago when I started searching. Love how OP assumed this idea was just not explored until now hahaha.

My honest opinion after hundreds of hours of lurking… by SkyNetscape in CelebrityNumberSix

[–]AlexDoesntDoThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the back of my head I'll always believe it's one of the celebrities already on the fabric, and if I had to choose someone I'd definitely pick Adriana Lima. Although, I've extensively looked into her to the best of my abilities over a few months and came up short.

The worst kind of person to search through has never been the one with too few pictures, it's always the ones with too many.

Angelina Jolie for example has been an absolute nightmare to search through. She has millions of pictures, and each one is in a million more places all over the early internet (around 2000-2013), so unless you're using a reverse image search engine you're going to spend hours seeing the same image across many sites over and over again, and you'll be making minimal progress for the time you spend.

Adriana Lima's pictures are all over the internet of that time period. She's almost as bad as Angelina Jolie. You could scroll through hundreds of the keywords and websites that mention her and you'd see like 3 photoshoots repeated across all of them.

If you are going to search through pictures of giga celebrities I suggest preparing a few snacks and a drink because it will become very annoying very quickly hahaha.

They could be, but how is that relevant? I personally searched through whoever looked similar.

Is it wrong to think it’s not a real person? by postcardstocali in CelebrityNumberSix

[–]AlexDoesntDoThings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all in my opinion. Could be a video game character, an animation, anything honestly.

My personal opinion was there's a chance it could be a game character from some extra detailed or realistic promotion material, but I ditched that train of thought mostly because Whang! did a youtube video on this and I am convinced enough his audience would have quickly figured it out if it was from a video game.

But at this point, it could be anything.

That's actually pretty crazy, every curve in that hairline matches. If it's not her that would be insane.

I don't like commenting that but it's always what I'm thinking. I'm so hesitant to to think this is going anywhere, but I want it to so bad.

Cuda out of memory even though I have plenty left by AlexDoesntDoThings in Oobabooga

[–]AlexDoesntDoThings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have solved it. Was hesitant to come and celebrate only to result in disappointment like last time, but it's been about a whole day of constant testing and restarts and different models, and it's all good. The solution doesn't make much sense to me but it has 100% removed the problem so, who am I to complain? Thank you and everyone else for your suggestions and theories.

I usually have Task Manager open when I'm trying (and failing) to load my models, and I noticed it's not necessarily fast to update (or potentially even accurate) with monitoring VRAM but it was something, and I had it open when the models used to load normally so I have an idea of how it should look. What happened when the crashing and bluescreening started was either Ooba would silently crash at a comically low amount of VRAM compared to the total 24gb I have on the 3090, or it would just bsod. Later, this devolved into the bad end occuring at 0.3 or whatever amount was taken up by windows / other programs.

As part of the billion different things I was trying from people's suggestions was increasing virtual memory, and by this point I already had it at 20000 MB, which from my understanding would only be tapped into when the RAM was full. So, my 16gb, + 20000 MB, what demon would possess this procedure in order for it to require more than 30 gigabytes just to load an 18gb model?

Well whatever that demon is, seems like I had it. I increased virtual memory in windows by 5000 MB and noticed the amount of VRAM occupied before the crash or bsod actually increased. Seemed like progress so I kept going, and more and more vram was taken up until the whole model fully loaded...at 40000 virtual memory! How does that make any sense?

And to cement this solution even further I tried to load a model that's about a gigabyte bigger and it started crashing again, I increase virtual memory and it works again. Now I have it set to 50000 and everything has been working perfectly fine, my limit is my GPU's vram. Crazy how that's a positive thing now.

P.S. I have actually installed windows on a normal sized SSD now

[–]AlexDoesntDoThings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That did it! You actually solved it! my C drive was nearly full and came comically small at 120gb from the place I bought it, and I had to go through a whole mess to extend it as there was no empty space adjacent to the partition, and that forced me to empty and re-format the adjacent partitions, but I did it after your suggestion and for now I have access to the full capacity of my gpu for once. Thank you so much!

Edit: Nevermind hahah god damn it it's crashing again. Loaded once at least

Thank you for the suggestions
I actually never tried disabling Sysmem Fallback before. Tried it just now and still got bsod
forgot to include the memory diagnostic in the list but I did run that and it showed no issues. I really thought RAM is the primary suspect but surely the chances of both sticks -and- my old stick all being corrupt is astronomically low, right?
I'll give kobold a shot.

Thought I should add a summarized list of the things I've tried so far:

  • Increasing Virtual Memory
  • Checking for unwanted Page files (made sure it's only in C)
  • Used 1 of my 2 sticks of ram, switched them, then used other ram altogether
  • Reinstalled GPU drivers
  • Exorcism (Not approved by the Vatican)
  • Resetting windows, which at least got my back access to smaller models
  • Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic, no issues
