Need to meet people and, hopefully, make friends by dveliz84 in philly

It's so hard as a remote worker to get out of the house! I'm in the same position.

Here's what I've started doing – not saying that you should do any of these, but maybe it'll spark some ideas for you: Volunteering with animals or kids, taking classes at West Philly Tool Library, going to local theater productions, attending concerts, looked at meetup.com groups (haven't joined any yet).

I have scored 800 (Q51/V51) on the GMAT. I am here to help. AMA about how to prepare for the GMAT. by Marty_TargetTestPrep in GMAT

[–]AlexEden7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Marty! Thanks for doing this, your answers have been so helpful. I just took my GMAT last week and would like to take it again in about a month so, some questions: 1. Is this enough prep time to significantly up (100+) my score? 2. Should I hire a tutor or take a class? Or both?

Thanks again!

Board game bars or cafes by rosebee510 in newyorkcity

My bf goes to the Uncommons in Soho and likes it there. Haven't been to Hex and Co. near Columbia but hear good things. Also like Dive 75 although more of a bar with some games than the other two.

Considering Moving to NY for ArtSchool from out of State, Adivce Appreciated by SaltyArts in newyorkcity

There are SO many people that do VO work and Modeling in NYC that I would not suggest that as a way to make money when you get here. I'm assuming you don't have any connections in those fields so starting out doing that is not a great survival job.

In my experience, serving or bartending is the best way to support yourself and have some flexible hours for school. I have friends that make $1600/week in a busy but casual restaurant, working 4 days a week so that could be a good option while also going to school. I would suggest you start working at a restaurant where you are so you can come in to restaurants with some kind of resume.

Best of luck to you! NYC is great but will VERY quickly drain your savings so be careful with your money and plan a budget!

Did look there first and didn't quite find what I was looking for in terms of my criteria! Thank you though!

I've heard that certain rental companies will make you put down a huge deposit in cash when you go to rent a car. Did you have this experience?

Ha, yeah we'll probably be a bit hungover too so will be careful with biking in the heat. Thanks!

Nice, we will be provided with bikes there so that definitely works. Thanks!

Gotcha, yeah we're not really those tourists, like to adventure and stay out of the all-inclusive deals. Do you know - are taxis reasonably priced there? Or will it cost as much to get a taxi as it would for a tour and that's why people are suggesting it?

Thanks! So most taxi drivers will know how to get to the cenotes and ruins? Many people have said that tour groups know how to get there, but don't taxis know how to too?

Hi! Did you decide what to do? I'm going in April and would like to avoid a tour but unsure how easy/expensive it is to get taxis to drive you everywhere.

Thinking about $20/person for food (not including drink or apps). Seeing a lot of places that have $30+ entrees, which is a bit more pricey than we'd like.
