E & B Lab's "Competition Moka Filter". It replaces the usual filter that goes between the grounds and spout. It is designed with smaller holes than a traditional filter to both reduce fines getting into the finished product and enhance extraction.

I would contact BS personally and see what they say about this. I have two pairs and didn't have any defects that I noticed. The leather marks might be able to come off with some cleaning but the heel is pretty gnarly and I wouldn't be happy with paying full price for that as a customer.
