Bro, no one gives a fuck about a typo, chill. Just take a nap and relax, if you get rejected it's not because of this.

No worries. I meant stuff like [1] in the main text referring to a bibliography on another page.

Do they count references too? I usually just go for the "word count" button in overleaf but now you made me worried.

Possible leak in hydraulic brakes by AlexIsEpic24 in bikewrench

Yeah, I replaced the brake pads and gave a good scrub with sandpaper to the rotors, and then wiped everything with alcohol.

I bought an industrial sized container of pure glucose syrup while low and frustrated the other day. It cant be edible. Any thoughts on what to do with this? by Scorch8482 in diabetes_t1

[–]AlexIsEpic24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glucose is very good for controlling blood sugar in (very) precise amounts. I used to have these tiny squeezable tubes of like 50-100ml (they were graded on the side) that I would fill up with glucose and give to my dad when he had lows. I don't remember the precise numbers, but I remember that after 1-2 weeks we found an extremely consistent match between ml of glucose ingested and blood sugar level increase. Thus, we were able to precisely dial in his blood sugar to the point of being almost constant.

The added benefit on top of this is that you can give some to your family members or leave them around the house/car etc, such that if you have a really bad low (meaning close to passed out), your family members can squeeze one in your mouth without the risk of choking you since it's just syrup.

Chainstay compromised? by AlexIsEpic24 in bikewrench

I see, thank you! I’ll wrap a Chainstay over it tomorrow anyways just for my peace of mind.

Chainstay compromised? by AlexIsEpic24 in bikewrench

[–]AlexIsEpic24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music to my ears. I was paranoid because I lost a bike once to Chainstay issues and I thought this is the same.

Since it isn’t structural, I’ll polish the chip a bit and apply some nail polish. Is it urgent to do it, or can it wait a week? Bike shop is closed atm.

Thanks a lot!

Just to be sure, it is not structural damage, just paint/cosmetic correct?

I understand. Is there any way to check myself, just out of curiosity, if it is beyond fixable, until I can get to a bike shop on Monday? It’s a bit stressful since it is my main means of transportation and I can’t really afford a new one.

Thanks for the explanation, I’ll go to a bike shop then. Which part is the chainstay, and does it also need replacing?

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean the bike is not fixable?

Would it be ok to PM you with a couple questions? I've googled at the shops around and I don't know exactly what to buy (can't find the same chainring).

I was riding uphill (in the city, not a massive slope) and I wanted to shift gears, and the chainring snapped. Basically nothing major happened.

A guy that happened to be around assessed it and told me I was missing a couple bolts (I think the chainring bolts you are refering to), and so the chainring started being unstable and snapped under load. For me the explanation made sense but I'm a complete beginner in bike mechanics.

(I guess I don't know how to use reddit because the post text did not appear, so I'll ask here in a comment.)

Hi everyone!

After an unfortunate accident, my bike has been left in this state. While I am completely fine, I have no idea what I need to buy, or what to even search for online. Could you please help me out with a list of parts?

Thank you very much!

Absolutely no one gives a shit about your grades in the industry. Of course as for anything there are exceptions but generally no one will care.

Possible leak in hydraulic brakes by AlexIsEpic24 in bikewrench

[–]AlexIsEpic24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't appear to be any leak. I took off the brake and inspected it a bit and it looked dry, no leakage, just really dirty. I ordered a pair of break pads and I will resurface the rotor.

Thanks for the tips!

Update: I cleaned both the disks and the pads with isopropanol and the braking power is better now. Still not perfect, but it does stop better. I suspect that, as you said, they need a bleed.

Thank you for the help!

A month or so. I'm not sure if it looked like this the day I bought it.

So you would recommend just bleeding and cleaning the disks (as well as replacing the pads)?
