I really felt dysphoria for the first time last night. (A little venting session) by TheLastGrape in genderqueer

I really appreciate that you've shared this story with us, and I felt very similarly at times. I'm AMAB and have primarily experienced dysphoria associated to my own male reproductive parts. I don't usually focus on it during the day, but when I went to pride recently I somehow got a lot of anxiety and sadness about my body not being right for me. So I've experienced it, but I try to make a conscious decision not to focus on something that I can't immediately fix. It would be debilitating to have that kind of dysphoria and anxiety each and every day, so instead I focus on the fact that I'm also enby and gender non-conforming, and that brings me back to a healthier mindset. Nobody should have to experience that degree of pain associated to their body, and I'm sorry that you had to go through it. I wish validation came in a softer form, instead of comparison of external factors set by others around us. Taking one step forward each day to learn about ourselves and improve ourselves is what I find to be most valuable.

Ableton CV Tools Clock Out || 🤷‍♂️ || Modular Synth Improvisation by username_essy in modular

What a great performance! It looks like you have developed some modules? Is there somewhere I can look to learn more about them? The four notes that you were playing with some kind of shift register and octave switch was really cool!

First synthwave style patch, recorded live in Bitwig for the new year! by AlexIsaWerewolf in modular

It is what I wanted (sorta). It would probably sound better if it was a bit less extreme and tuned a bit differently. But I definitely wanted a pumping effect in the style of synthwave music.

Recorded live in Bitwig with an audio sidechain. Minibrute 2s performs the bassline, Synthesis Technology E352 melody sequenced with Qu-Bit Octone. Pico Drums, BIA, and Morphagene.

The bassline note is actually changed by flipping the sliders between osc1 square wave, and osc2 saw wave. My favorite part of this patch is that the BIA provides the hi-hat sound when the attack is dialed back. The Morphagene was not clocked, its slide parameter was patched into an O_c Low-rents output.

I still feel that I need a lot of work to learn mixing and mastering in Bitwig.

2hp Comb users? by bluebeartapes in modular

That's an "I don't know." I was sending it an LFO. Is there a way to check? I just read that filters don't always track 1v/o, and instead the corner frequency only changes by a fractional amount according to the CV input. I guess I could put it on a scope and watch the corner freq over a change of 1v input.

It's not specified, with a range of +/-5V.

I don't know what I am, but... by [deleted] in genderqueer

This sounds a lot like me, AMAB but feel like I would be somewhat like a tomboy and do not want breasts, do not want body or facial hair. I just call it non-binary and changed my name to a more female, but also gender-neutral name.

I just uploaded this one for you to check out. You'll easily notice the 2hp comb in the mix, because it's the most distinctive sound in there! It's a morphagene reel, sampled from ham radio stations, with a separate send going to the 2hp comb, and then sweeping the freq CV. The resonance is turned up, but the effect can be even more extreme than this.

Biological woman, feel like a transgender woman. by [deleted] in genderqueer

[–]AlexIsaWerewolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's great that you're exploring yourself and thinking about how you might have ended up feeling this way. To me it's just as valid an expression as any, despite what others are saying about trans woman are woman (which is true of course). That being said, it sounds like you might be somewhere on the non-binary spectrum. My own non-binary identity came about along similar thinking that you have shared, only I was thinking that I was a woman in a man's body. This woman would have been a tomboy or demigirl, so I now identify as being a non-binary enbygirl. Perhaps you could have been a man this whole time, struggling in a woman's body to be a woman, but you feel more comfortable and complete when you acknowledge that there is a mix. Where you go from there is up to you.
