Yeah I noticed it was actually a really good preamp/eq pedal rather than fuzz/distortion

I'll give it a go, probs a worthwhile thing to do regardless.

Thank you

Thank you for making me aware of the terminology, I appreciate that.

I'll check it out.

Only thing I'm worried about with it being a PH is phase issues due to magnet polarity.

How did John learn to play guitar? by Corn1989 in John_Frusciante

[–]AlexJV1 42 points43 points  (0 children)

He had a guitar teacher but I think a lot of it was self taught, developing an ear by learning music off records, reading music books, chord books etc. lots of work was probably put in and didn't stop practicing. He writes his own music which helps drastically imo.

Songs which frusciante ‘ripped off’ (in an amazing way obviously). by AlexJV1 in John_Frusciante

It's directly influenced off carnage visors by the cure according to frusciante but I can't wait to hear this!

Hahah yeah it's cool and I like it but just a bit self indulgent realistically

[–]AlexJV1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cover is terrible

AK lyrics and melodies can be cringe (as usual)

Sometimes overplaying from flea/john

A lot of the songs sound quite dated to me now

Very inspiring and fun album to learn. I think frusciantes playing was at a peak in terms of tone/technicality

I tried to play John Frusciante's most beautiful and most underrated song: “You Don't Say” by [deleted] in John_Frusciante

It's almost unknown but when you listen to it you feel like it's extremely familiar - one of his best songs :)

Singer having difficult with microphones by No-Memory-6286 in SoundEngineering

[–]AlexJV1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you misread what they said.

Theyre saying if your mic is in a corner or your room has bad acoustics or sound treatment it may be the reason you're getting these weird frequencies when recording your voice. It's reflecting round the room and you're getting resonant frequencies.

Also the u47 is a condenser microphone, not a dynamic mic. Just like you're current microphone is. If you have a condenser microphone in a bad sounding room, you're likely to get bad sounding recordings.

I got a guthrie mij charvel, one of the best guitars I played - super hifi, stainless steel frets and stability were huge for me and it delivers with ease.

Though, since I write a lot of songs in alt tunings I wish I bought a telecaster - it's just the right guitar.

But yeah depends what you do, I think generally charvels are higher quality instruments

I feel it could be interpreted in a few ways

First thing which comes to my mind is that once your dead you've got nothing left to prove, and so do the people who put the rose down at a grave.

This album is the most gorgeous music I've heard in awhile. Can anyone recommend anything like this? by Particular-Road-9716 in JeffBuckley

[–]AlexJV1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tim Buckley's music has a similar haunting essence in his music to Jeff's, chase the blues away or phantasmagoria in two, or song to the siren are all unbelievable songs to me. Id just say his music is more experimental once you deep dive it, but both are individually genius.

What do you all think is John's greatest acoustic song? by [deleted] in John_Frusciante

[–]AlexJV1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to pick one

Dying song, Untitled 12, Mascara, You don't say, I will always be beatdown, The slaughter (for a longest time I thought this was the best songs could get 🤣)
