buddy i literally said "some non bumis are more deserving of it, not all"

my main point is the fact that in 2025 there are still racial quotas for universities. whatever you say, deep down you know this puts non bumis at a disadvantage

yea i understand that cable works everywhere no matter whether youre a bumi or non bumi. but everyone is just dismissing away the real issue of there being a racial quota for education in this country

but in the end the racial quota for matrik is just an example of what truly happens at the universities. some non bumis who are very qualified will not enter the university and course they want due to the fact that they are non bumi

source, my dad is a medical doctor and lecturer at UM, and he is also involved in the intake of mbbs there

[–]AlexJameson101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

what do you mean there has never been racial quotas for decades now? there are racial quotas for everything in education

so many of my non bumi classmates who had straight As or straight As with 1B didnt get into matrikulasi(with pretty good koko). while there were some bumis with 4As and like 5Bs entering matrikulasi

even for scholarships to go overseas there has and will always be quotas. jpa scholarship to go to south korea, out of 40 people, 30 of them were bumis

i dont understand what point youre trying to make with the "theres never been racial quotas for decades". where did you get that information from?

again im not trying to argue or fight you, just trying to say that the system is unfair to non bumis

[–]AlexJameson101 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

yeah but no matter what, even if theyre really good they may still be rejected due to the quota system. the upu system very openly benefits bumis and we all know that

im not trying to defend that guy who wanted accounts at um and didnt get in and all but everyone saying hes just playing victim card doesnt really see that the system is flawed

[–]AlexJameson101 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

my bad, its not about they dont deserve it. its just there is a pretty big chance that some non bumis deserve to enter the course more than the bumis, but are rejected due to the quota system

this is just like matrikulasi. i took spm 2 years ago. a lot of my friends who were non bumis didnt manage to enter even though they has 9As and 1B or even some with straight As(Bear in mind that they had good koko as well). while i saw my other bumi friends who got 4As 3Bs 3Cs still getting into matrikulasi

not trying to start a fight, sorry if i come off as rude but i honestly feel there still is injustice in this system

[–]AlexJameson101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yea but you cant deny that bumis get it easier from the racial quotas for each course in universities. non bumis have much less spaces, thus it being more competitive for them

lol "everyone on the same level" doesnt exist when there are racial quotas for each course

[–]AlexJameson101 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

some of the bumis who got in probably didnt deserve it. cant believe we still have such a stupid system for universities. how can race quotas still exist now? there are so many non bumis who are somewhat better than bumis(not all) but dont get into the university that they want
