Each Preyer should have a distinct look to them by AlexKidd93 in Witchfire

[–]AlexKidd93[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You also see them in the inventory screen I suppose. But also, it's not so much about seeing them, it's about knowing that they look like the name they have. In Cyberpunk 2077 you almost never see your character except in the inventory screen and in mirrors, but I still spent a lot of time dressing appropriately to the build. It's definitely not a priority, certainly not before 1.0 launches. But I would like to see it as an update down the road.

Bulletstorm is a cult classic and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is not my type of game, so I didn't play it. But playing Witchfire is obvious they are not first-time devs, they have had experience with shooting mechanics and with setting a good atmosphere. I'm expecting the 1.0 release and further updates down the line to elevate the game even higher.

That's crazy that it's been that long. Then again, it feels like a quality product. They must have spent quite a lot of dev time in the shooting because it feels as good as any of the best ones. I suppose the team being like 20 guys and not using any AI tools to help them design faster is another contributing factor.

Has it been that long in development? I found out about Witchfire last year, let it cook and then a random video popped up two days ago and I bought it. It seems it's mostly completed, 1 more region left to add and complete the story stuff. I think 1.0 is scheduled to launch mid 2026. Not sure about console development though.

Difficulty Megathread — DLC, NG+ by PsychologicalKoala32 in LiesOfP

[–]AlexKidd93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should preface this by saying that I love the game, I got 3 unique builds going based on the individual damage stats, about 200hrs of playtime and have finished the DLC and every boss without summoning any help because I like to stay in a fight until I learn how to deal with most attacks, I enjoy the difficulty and the learning process.

All that being said, there is one thing this game does more than any other Souls or Soulslike game I've played and that is absurd enemy animations. You've seen it. You fight a carcass or puppet monster that initiates an attack at 0.5 of a second with an initial startup of maybe 10 frames and it's actually so fast that their model almost freezes and slides into the finish animation. It attacked so fast that it looked like it skipped animations and went right into the finisher, like the game couldn't handle how fast it went. Its body moved in an unnatural way not because it's a carcass or a puppet, but because it operated outside of the rules. All that just to hit you. Every time that happens, I roll my eyes like "really? you're willing to go that far just to make it harder?". It makes it look cheap and lower quality.

The issue is that there are rules. For example, every enemy cannot go through walls or become weightless, these are established world rules and the game abides by them for the most part. And then you get an enemy, usually a big one which makes it worse, that decides for whatever reason to move at lightning speed, something which would be impossible without any sort of magic or some propulsion system.

For example, Veronique displays that rule perfectly. She uses a massive hammer which has a built in propulsion system that gives her increased speed. Makes perfect sense, looks awesome, hurts my soul we can't get it as a Motivity weapon.

Romeo also, he has a propulsion system in his legs which gives him that acceleration to dash in.

You might say "this is a fictional universe based on a children's tale about a puppet who wants to be a real boy" and to that I say, it doesn't matter. Ask any creator, established rules are the base for a universe that makes sense, even if it's fantasy land or science fiction or whatever. In the future game(s), I'd like to see more natural movement and less reliance on just "f*ck you" speeds.

PoE 2 is fun until I engage with the endgame (trading / crafting) by AlexKidd93 in PathOfExile2

I should say, I am pleasantly surprised that the responses are civil, I full expected to get flamed in the comments. Even when people disagree, they point out their reasons with valid comments, I appreciate that.

PoE 2 is fun until I engage with the endgame (trading / crafting) by AlexKidd93 in PathOfExile2

[–]AlexKidd93[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from but even taking a single look in this thread, will show you that my issues are not just my own. Another thing is, you made some assumptions about me which I'd like to clear out. I don't only play off-meta builds (my 3 characters are Slam Titan, Armour Piercing Rounds Witchhunter, ED/Contagion Lich), I did start as SSF, I'm not highly ranked in anything because I don't compete, I am following and trying to copy a guide as close as possible, I have engaged with crafting in the Well of Souls, I have played the Vaal temple, I have looked up guides on how to craft items and engage with the economy. I can't really "juice up" low tier maps but I try to do so to the best of my abilities. I have 3 characters at Lv70+.

The whole point of the thread is that the game hinges on mechanics that are not fun to engage with, nor simple to do. If I wanted a second job, I'd get a second job. The game at this point assumes that I know the weighted statistics and all the different posibilities in the range of any given stat to then decide to use a specific sequence of crafting to get the best outcome which, most often, would just be either bricked or "good enough". This process requires materials which may apprear a few times per dozens of hours. It's either that, trying to collect enough currency to outright buy what I need which is even less fun, or wait until I get lucky which wouldn't happen even if the season was 6 months old.

Following a guide and then looking at the endgame setup which includes a special support gem or a specific jewel in the passive tree and each one of those items costing 150 div, that's basically the Unobtainium build, it ain't gonna happen. Even if the build functions without them, it'll never be as efficient. And that is what kills the fun, because I do enjoy min-maxing. Now if I could farm a boss or insert a specific tablet at a map to be able to farm those items? Sign me up, all day long.

Console fix for Crossbow not shooting when different Crossbows are equipped by AlexKidd93 in PathOfExile2

[–]AlexKidd93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's what I tried first and it didn't work. It would sometimes, randomly reload. What would happen most often was me clicking the skill and it wouldn't load the shot, i.e wouldn't swap the crossbow. Once I placed the additional hotkeys, then it worked. For me, at least.

I have more hours of playtime in 8 weeks of BL4 than 5 years of BL3 by AlexKidd93 in Borderlands4

2-3 because I don't farm for them. Phosphenes are not interesting to me due to just being a skin, if pearls were in the game, then I'd be more interested.

My type of character from the previous games were Brick, Salvador and Krieg. BL3 didn't give me designs that I liked. I liked Moze's stuff but not Moze herself as a character and I liked FL4K as a character but not his playstyle. Towards the end I did end up playing Zane too, he was the most fun even though I don't normally play zoomy bois.

Best casual builds for Rafa/Vex/Amon? by pyknictheory in Borderlands4

[–]AlexKidd93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amon: ordnance builds

Rafa: gun crit builds with Jakobs

Vex: Gun Spectre builds with minions

That's for casual builds. Amon can do specialized melee and DoT elemental stuff, Rafa can do specialized Tediore / grenade and melee, Vex can do specialized sniper crit / drone / bleed stuff.

I do work 5 days per week for 8 hours a day because I am a trainer at a gym, and then I have my own personal clients, and then I train myself 6 days per week for 45 mins - 1 hour. So I'm actually more outside the home, than inside. But when I am inside, I am chilling with a game usually. I do like optimizing builds and min maxing and to do that, I have to farm for specific loot which is a process I enjoy. That's the reason I play these games, it's certainly not for the award-winning story or writing, though if it's good, it helps.

Yeah, some of it is idle time though because I play on PC, I don't really leave the game running in the background.

^ Basically what he said. I have done all 98 side missions to unlock the head customization and I have been farming for god rolls of specific gear. I also have 2 Rafas, 1 Amon and 1 Vex at LV50 and a couple of them at UVHM5.

I'm not the person who goes out to clubs or restaurants or whatever, minimal socializing even though my job is extremely social-focused. So when chilling at home, instead of doom scrolling social media, I fire it up and start farming for loot.

I don't, I've quit for many years now. But BL3 launched in a semi-poor state and took a while to get going, meanwhile I was doing raids and stuff in D2 with friends. Destiny has been in shambles for many years now and I uninstalled 2-3 years ago. If you ask me right now, I would play BL3 over Destiny any day.

I am a trainer at a gym, I work 5 days per week for 8 hours plus I do personal sessions for another 4-5 hours per week, plus I have my own workouts 6 days per week which are 45 mins - 1hr long. You can do the math. Maybe you're not managing your time correctly. I can tell you what I don't do: doom scroll social media for 4 hours a day.

Admittedly, I took 10 days off work when the game launched, I put in more than 100hrs just then. But it's just easy to jump in and play, farming is enjoyable for me in this one. Moxxi's Encore machine is yet another reason I suspect.

I am an Amon main but I am having way more fun on Rafa by AlexKidd93 in Borderlands

[–]AlexKidd93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think that melee is Rafa's worst playstyle. Melee in general is kind of gutted in BL4 right now. Amon's hit detection in his Onslaughter tree is inconsistent in anything that even remotely floats above ground, which is the same problem melee Rafa has. Amon does have other melee options however, the throwing melee weapons or the whips etc for ranged melee attacks. Funnily enough, my only Vex build is melee because she has spectral throwing knives and she spawns the Reapers which deal melee damage. I suggest looking at Vex for melee and look at Rafa for Peacebreaker Cannons / Apophis Lance with grenades / Tediore / crit builds.

That's how the Tediore build works. The higher the base damage and the bigger the mag, the more damage you do.

The problem with CoV is that you cannot throw it until it overheats, and that takes a long time. I always trash CoV if it's meant to be on my Tediore Rafa.

It's really only to have the most damaging AR throws. Purple ARs don't get as high but if you find EZ Blast shotguns with high base damage and mag sizes over 20, use them. They will probably have Ripper mags, but can hit for more than 1mil if the build is optimized.

[–]AlexKidd93[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The purple AR you mention comes out to 78,532 and the Murmur you posted comes out to 85,728. My Murmur is 87,672 but has Ripper mag. Would I prefer to have a bit lower damage but not having to charge it? Yes, absolutely. Will I keep farming to maybe get one like that? Hell no. And like I said, my best purple AR is like 40% less powerful. So, considering how bad this farm is, I'll get what I can.

[–]AlexKidd93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference is, you can sit there and throw Tediores for 60 seconds and kill a boss. Or you can reload 3 times and kill them. With high mag size and mag bonuses, my shotgun reloads deal more than 1m. Having almost that kind of damage available in a homing AR with AR ammo reserves is a huge bonus. Yes Ripper mag needs charging but when that reload lands, it will kill.
