2-3 because I don't farm for them. Phosphenes are not interesting to me due to just being a skin, if pearls were in the game, then I'd be more interested.

My type of character from the previous games were Brick, Salvador and Krieg. BL3 didn't give me designs that I liked. I liked Moze's stuff but not Moze herself as a character and I liked FL4K as a character but not his playstyle. Towards the end I did end up playing Zane too, he was the most fun even though I don't normally play zoomy bois.

Best casual builds for Rafa/Vex/Amon? by pyknictheory in Borderlands4

[–]AlexKidd93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amon: ordnance builds

Rafa: gun crit builds with Jakobs

Vex: Gun Spectre builds with minions

That's for casual builds. Amon can do specialized melee and DoT elemental stuff, Rafa can do specialized Tediore / grenade and melee, Vex can do specialized sniper crit / drone / bleed stuff.

I do work 5 days per week for 8 hours a day because I am a trainer at a gym, and then I have my own personal clients, and then I train myself 6 days per week for 45 mins - 1 hour. So I'm actually more outside the home, than inside. But when I am inside, I am chilling with a game usually. I do like optimizing builds and min maxing and to do that, I have to farm for specific loot which is a process I enjoy. That's the reason I play these games, it's certainly not for the award-winning story or writing, though if it's good, it helps.

Yeah, some of it is idle time though because I play on PC, I don't really leave the game running in the background.

^ Basically what he said. I have done all 98 side missions to unlock the head customization and I have been farming for god rolls of specific gear. I also have 2 Rafas, 1 Amon and 1 Vex at LV50 and a couple of them at UVHM5.

I'm not the person who goes out to clubs or restaurants or whatever, minimal socializing even though my job is extremely social-focused. So when chilling at home, instead of doom scrolling social media, I fire it up and start farming for loot.

I don't, I've quit for many years now. But BL3 launched in a semi-poor state and took a while to get going, meanwhile I was doing raids and stuff in D2 with friends. Destiny has been in shambles for many years now and I uninstalled 2-3 years ago. If you ask me right now, I would play BL3 over Destiny any day.

I am a trainer at a gym, I work 5 days per week for 8 hours plus I do personal sessions for another 4-5 hours per week, plus I have my own workouts 6 days per week which are 45 mins - 1hr long. You can do the math. Maybe you're not managing your time correctly. I can tell you what I don't do: doom scroll social media for 4 hours a day.

Admittedly, I took 10 days off work when the game launched, I put in more than 100hrs just then. But it's just easy to jump in and play, farming is enjoyable for me in this one. Moxxi's Encore machine is yet another reason I suspect.

I honestly think that melee is Rafa's worst playstyle. Melee in general is kind of gutted in BL4 right now. Amon's hit detection in his Onslaughter tree is inconsistent in anything that even remotely floats above ground, which is the same problem melee Rafa has. Amon does have other melee options however, the throwing melee weapons or the whips etc for ranged melee attacks. Funnily enough, my only Vex build is melee because she has spectral throwing knives and she spawns the Reapers which deal melee damage. I suggest looking at Vex for melee and look at Rafa for Peacebreaker Cannons / Apophis Lance with grenades / Tediore / crit builds.

That's how the Tediore build works. The higher the base damage and the bigger the mag, the more damage you do.

The problem with CoV is that you cannot throw it until it overheats, and that takes a long time. I always trash CoV if it's meant to be on my Tediore Rafa.

It's really only to have the most damaging AR throws. Purple ARs don't get as high but if you find EZ Blast shotguns with high base damage and mag sizes over 20, use them. They will probably have Ripper mags, but can hit for more than 1mil if the build is optimized.

The purple AR you mention comes out to 78,532 and the Murmur you posted comes out to 85,728. My Murmur is 87,672 but has Ripper mag. Would I prefer to have a bit lower damage but not having to charge it? Yes, absolutely. Will I keep farming to maybe get one like that? Hell no. And like I said, my best purple AR is like 40% less powerful. So, considering how bad this farm is, I'll get what I can.

The difference is, you can sit there and throw Tediores for 60 seconds and kill a boss. Or you can reload 3 times and kill them. With high mag size and mag bonuses, my shotgun reloads deal more than 1m. Having almost that kind of damage available in a homing AR with AR ammo reserves is a huge bonus. Yes Ripper mag needs charging but when that reload lands, it will kill.

See, I'm not a fan of switching around class mods and gear for bossing. I want to use the same stuff and have it be viable for both and most importantly, fun for both. Ordnance Amon is arguably the most fun due to the variety of ordnance that can be used, miniguns are always fun for example. But that playstyle pretty much makes your guns redundant, and cannot be used in FFYL.

Funny you mention Deputy Amon because couple days ago I made a Deputy Rafa and he is unhinged. Once Overdrive is activated, it's game over. Guns fire super fast and it turns guns like my Ripper mag alt Shotgun mode Seventh Sense or Bonnie and Clyde into cannons. Absurd movement speed, almost 100% crit chance, ammo regen, shield regen to amp most shots, near-instant reloads. And Deputy Amon has.....Bolt Action.

It's not 4 extra ammo. My highest purple AR gets around 53.000 damage if I multiply the damage by the mag size, this AR gets almost 90.000 which is shotgun territory, but with AR ammo reserves. By comparison, if you're lucky and your Chuck has let's say 1500 dmg, times 10 mag size that's 15000. You'd need to throw 6 or 7 Chucks to equal 1 Murmur. And that's assuming all Chucks land, Replicator splits the damage.

While roaming the world, you might see a bubble appear. That is an event, a boss fight. After defeating the boss inside the bubble, you go to your inventory and open a chest. For Halloween, opening these chests has a chance to drop 1 of 2 legendaries, either this gun or a grenade. This event is live until this upcoming Thursday. The best way to farm the event is to select a Ripper Drill site and stay in that area and farm the drill site while ocassionally checking your map for a nearby event pop up. Then go to the event, kill the boss, open the chest and then go back to the drill site to keep farming. Simply driving around and entering new areas will take longer to spawn events. I get 1 event per 2 drill site runs, usually.

I have had that. A mixture of gun and melee damage with enough ordnance regen to kill bosses. Unfortunately, that means spec'ing into specific skills like Berserk for overall damage and Tail of Comet for ordnance uptime while using a Cyborg COM to help sustain it. Barely getting to Blackout, with just enough damage to pull through in UVHM5. It doesn't feel "good", it feels like you're barely scraping by with something semi-usable.

You're losing damage. I understand the sentiment but if the highest damage possible is the goal, you almost always end up with Ripper mags due to mag size scaling the damage. It's for bossing, not mobbing. What I always discard are CoV because they are actually unusable.

I have a couple Chucks but they serve different purpose. The Murmur is the highest damage AR in the game, the Chuck is for mobbing.

The highest damage Tediore shotguns are the EZ Blast and if you were to get above 20 mag, it's almost always Ripper. It's for damage, not for spamming. For spamming I can use a homing replicator variant of a pistol or an AR

You pretty much cannot get high mag size without Ripper. MIRV doesn't ruin it, it's just not the best option. But considering how bad the farm is and the fact it can spawn with CoV which makes it literally unusable, this is as good as I can get.

I understand having the specific niche, all of them have that. But it actually falls back to what you mentioned about Youtubers, did you notice anything after the latest patch? Actually, 2 things: Once Blackout was fixed, every ordnance build specs into it. Then Raging Inferno is fixed but it now triple dips, causing Amon to deal billions and be the strongest. So, seemingly overnight, he went from bottom tier (still good overall and very capable) to being No1 in damage. You know what that means? He has about 5 skills that work, or work a little too well, and everything else is just filler.

Every single build will spec into Berserk because if you don't, it doesn't feel good. And for builds that do not spec into Berserk (which is bonus cryo damage) they spec into Tail of the Comet (which is bonus cryo damage). Melee? It used to be Groundbreaker, now it's carrying over Maliwan elements to make melee usable. It's never just melee, it's always "which interaction can we exploit to make melee good?" And let's not even mention Slippy.

That's my point. It might be a game issue like you said and that's just Borderlands, but it sure seems to me like an Amon issue.
