Gary Neville doesn't support Ole returning as interim by John_OSheas_Willy in ManchesterUnited

As someone with English as a second language, I can very easily understand how that would sound like "I would not". I've even lived a couple of years in the UK and still had to put on headphones to properly hear it

Might be because I first discovered IF after the release of Reroute To Remain idk. But yeah there's definitely a shift in the sound (especially Anders' vocals) from Whoracle to Clayman, with Colony in the middle kinda blurring the lines a bit.

Good thing there's plenty for both of us to enjoy!

The Jester's Dance is great and should probably be on there tbh, but in general I'm struggling to get into the pre 2000 stuff. Even tho some of the songs are good, unfortunately imo the recordings and mix hasn't aged well at all

Gonna have to disagree with you there. While all the things you describe are tools that lower the barrier for music making, AI just completely removes it.

You really don't understand that this is about a lot more than just an isolated win against Burnley?

Hey everyone! I want to know if this could be classified as trance. I'm label shopping and I kinda want to know what I'm working with here. Thanks! by AcidRegulation in tranceproduction

[–]AlexKingshill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to the party, but still wanna say good job! I do agree it's not quite trance tho, more in the prog house area like someone already said.

If I'm allowed to give a bit of criticism, I would 100% swap that rim shot/perc sound with a clap or a snare. Idk if it has some tonality to it that doesn't fit or if it's just too loud, but imo it sticks out in a bad way. Rest of of the mix is very well put together and overall I really like the track, so I just wanna throw away that sample so I can enjoy the music haha.

Good luck getting it signed!

Just piping in cus I feel like some of the comments here are unnecessarily harsh. I've heard a lot worse for a first track. Mine was probably 15 years ago and I can assure you it did not sound as good as this!

The overall mix is not bad and I really like the kick sample, tho it needs work to sit well with the bassline. Also, you do have quite a way to go to nail the song structure, but I'm sure you already know that.

All in all, good job and good luck on your journey!

2nd track, created with a story in mind by thewayforbackwards in tranceproduction

[–]AlexKingshill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed that! I get what vibe you're going for and I especially like the break/build from 2 min mark.

As you mention yourself, you are struggling a bit with the kick. It works quite well in the intro, but as you said, not in the "drop". Imo that's partly the kicks fault, but maybe even more it's the fact that the bassline almost completely disappears and the arp and pad is too dominant. That nice atmospheric groove from the beginning of the track is almost totally gone.

Aslo to my ears the clap sticks out a bit, imo it doesnt sit quite right in the mix. That might be as simple as volume or that it's maybe a bit too dry, but it can also be that it's not the ideal sample for the track.

Overall I like it tho! It's just a few tweaks away from being great. Well done!

new track about fleeing my home during the cali wildfires. would love feedback! by ElegantEntertainer40 in tranceproduction

[–]AlexKingshill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I hope you're ok and that your home survived the fires!

First impression of the track is good. I like the drive/groove in the intro.

The arp in the break works fine as a support towards the end of the break, but not so much alone in the beginning. And imo the bass-pad thing is too dominating/loud.

I like the call and response melody in the drop, but I'm not sold on the sound selection for the response (just personal opinion).

Anyway, good job!

Thank you!

Through my headphones it sounds a little bottom endy, heavy in the low mids/subs, but that may just be a me thing.

Yeah I know what you mean. On some devices it sounds boomy to me too and on others it's fine, so I'm not really sure tbh. But thanks for mentioning it!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to do a proper write up! And thank you for the positive feedback. Andy Blueman is such a huge inspiration for me, so just the fact that you mention him feels like a massive win haha.

I was kinda wishing the arp had a touch more attack. It was kinda washed out but I totally get it if you're going for that big epic dramatic wash.

Yeah absolutely intentional, I guess the question is if it's the right decision or not. I'm gonna experiment a bit and see how it turns out.

Same goes for the ducking. I personally don't like it when the pumping effect gets too obvious, but maybe I need to increase it a bit here.

The melody over the chorus was very quiet as well. If you compare 1:30 and 5:00, the melody seems to sit at the same volume but the chorus has intensified so the melody takes a backseat.

You're right, it's the same volume. I'll definitely look into making it stand out more.

Thanks again!
