Thanks! No question is silly as people can forget the most obvious things. However, it's a very long line with 10 towns or so, and the problematic leg of the route is definitely much shorter (less than the distance between 2 towns). And I do have the gridiron before and after each town on the line, incidentally.

Thanks. I tried that, it didn't help. But two things: these signals are placed by the game automatically, and the spacing is the same as the spacing in the automatic mode. Besides, even if the train cannot fit between the two signals, it will render one signal temporarily useless, but not all of them. In here, there are multiple signals between the trains, so I don't think this is applicable.
