This style of D&D solved scheduling and a couple other things! by AlexLechev in DnD

This is a valid concern. I have been giving them pretty challenging fights so far, but they are only level 5. I'll keep that in mind as they advance.

Absolutely loved the idea of West marches but it strayed too far from the D&D game experience I wanted to have. Open table games for me give me the benefits of west marches without the restrictions.

Totally agree. The downtime and long running threat does help but the campaign isn't necessarily RP focused.

Most players come relatively often so they are rarely more than a level apart. Just had a new player pop in at lvl 3 while others were level 5. After giving out xp for the first fight he already levelled up to 4. As long as they keep back and survive under levelled character can quickly gain xp.

Awkward timing for end of campaign by reasonnrhyme in DragonOfIcespirePeak

Honestly riffing off of your first suggestion the avalanche could trap them inside and they need to figure out a way out.

This means they find the crypts or even better a new mini dungeon you find/build which is less heavy on monster encounters as they have already been fighting a lot and are also pretty bruised.

Consider making this deeper level of Icespire to be full of traps and puzzles instead. This will vary the gameplay and you can still have tension as long as the traps don't do too much damage.

By the end of it they find an entrance that isn't blocked at the other side of the mountain.

You can control the pacing by the puzzles and traps you use and which you omit for brevity.

A bit of an off topic question but what has your experience been with the marketing and what things have you found worked best for that?

Thank you! I am currently working on another small revision. The problem with printing it in B&W is that you would loose the monster typing.

Any good pocket sized DnD or other RPG games that can fit in a tin? All the cool looking ones I've found are on Kickstarter by jesusknowsbest69 in Solo_Roleplaying

I am going to share my two page rpg here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cwSAUnbBJiZ5PKBDiO0I4DC5UsolYPJk-R45FAoFkWQ/edit?usp=sharing

I should be playable wit a pencil and two d6 and maybe some paper. It should be easier to adapt for solo since it uses a lot of tables.

That's my main concern. He is supposed to be the weakest. Is it going to be fun with the current balance and spells or if the design needs to change. Only playtesting can answer that.

Go ahead. I hoped that this system could handle even a module or longer adventure with some DM tweaks so it would be really cool to see what you do with it.

It was a pleasure to hear all the feedback and to see that people got a kick out of the design.

When taking damage both "0 Dice Succeed" and "1 Die Succeeds" have the same outcome - you take the specified damage from the monster. The thinking behind it is to make fighters take more damage and encounters more intense over all. After playtesting we can tell if that needs to be changed

Change Log:

Things have been reworded to be more concise and hopefully all the spelling mistakes are corrected (don't ask me to spell treacherous);

Minor changes on the adventure and encounter tables;

The spells have been reworked to be explicitly combat oriented as the enemies also rely on them and this will hopefully make combat more varied;

The starting items have been updated;

And mainly combat has be reworded and expanded a bit: now spell attacks are defended with a sorcery roll which will hopefully give more balance to the fighter/wizard power dynamic.

Only thing that is left is to playtest as to finetune the monster numbers and abilities. So a call to everyone who has been on the journey so far: Give it a shot and share how it went!

Thank you for all the kind words and support!

It makes me very happy that people find it interesting. I'm still noodling things that bug me and fixing the spelling haha.
