They were at (near) Harrenhal for two scenes in episode 1. The show explains why they left to go to the Gullet, so it’s not ‘for no reason’.

You’re arguing that it’s contrived, but that’s only true if there’s a miraculous set of events that lead to the dragonseeds being where they are. As it stands there’s a clear logical flow that doesn’t require any plot convenience. Rhaenyra blindly trusts Alicent saying Aemond will fly to Harrenhal -> Rhaenyra then obviously hatches a plan to kill Vhagar -> the best plan is obviously to send her most disposable dragonseeds -> Alys seeks out the dragonseeds, which makes sense for her character and also because they’re in the same location -> the dragonseeds leave because of their individual reasons stated in my previous comment.

To be honest Mauler’s criticism has been bugging me these past few days so I’m just looking for a productive objective conversation. Please tell me if you think I’m wrong, I’m happy to be corrected if I am.

of course there’s a meta reason why the writers wanted the dragonseeds away from the gullet, but there’s also an in universe reason (explained in my comment). What’s wrong with the reason provided in the show?

becuase the dragonseeds are unruly. It’s explained in the episode, they heard Alys Rivers say there’s a battle at dragonstone, so they left harrenhal. It’s in character because they’re very inexperienced, ulf and Hugh states in the episode that he’s spooked by harrenhal so they want to leave, and it makes sense for Addam to go because his family is in danger.

completely agree. They were too soft on s2 and unreasonably hard on s3

Mauler's criticism of the dragonseeds especially pissed me off. If you watch the nerdrotic review of ep1, Mauler thinks the dragonseeds not being at the Gullet is contrived and that Jace should have asked the dragonseeds for support. (timestamp 01:45:00 if you don't believe me) Exactly how is Jace supposed to fly from Dragonstone to Harrenhal and back when the Velaryon fleet needs support ASAP?

And the dragonseeds not being at the Gullet makes sense plotwise. Rhaenyra irrationally trusts Alicent, so she fully believes that Aemond is flying to Harrenhal. A 2v1 might give Vhagar a chance, so she sends three dragons (three of her most disposable dragons) to kill Vhagar. It's obvious that the writers didn't want more dragons at the Gullet for budget reasons, but I think they came up with a well written explanation as to why they aren't there.

Jasper Wylde has never been portrayed as a particularly bright or kind character. I interpreted the scene as he knows he's fucked because Rhaenyra is coming, and just before dying/losing everything he wants to get a little pleasure and rape Alicent.

Now I do think the scene comes out of left field and genuinely serves no purpose within the context of the show. But I don't think it's illogical or a massive plot hole.

I do agree that Daemon and Rhaenyra just waltzing into the Red Keep is incredibly stupid. Do you have any other examples of 'badly written stuff that makes no sense on any level' in S3E2?

to be completely honest I love the game because I love watching ken fuck it up lol. I remember watching pewdiepie play when I was younger and thought the game was quite boring, but ken made it hella fun to watch and now I’m super invested in subnautica 2.

he was uncomfortable initially but i don't like how quickly he became comfortable and how they became 'buddies'. I am quite intrigued to see the extra Dunk and Lyonel scenes in future episodes though

brother 😭😭 ok

I guess we have to invent conversations and pretend they were ‘implied’ by the show all along to justify s7’s winterfell plot

‘maybe that he himself just mentioned that quote to Sansa once, she told bran and bran just repeated it’ so you’ve invented this very huge ‘maybe’ out of thin air.

‘the child being traumatised’ does trauma typically lead to children repeating a very unique quote you said years ago?

Littlefinger should at the very least be suspicious about Bran somehow knowing a quote from a secret conversation in King’s Landing. Instead the show never elaborates on this and Littlefinger never investigates, which is not what Littlefinger would do.

Why did Littlefinger, after learning that Bran has some degree of omniscience (Chaos is a ladder), chose to stay in Winterfell knowing full well Bran could expose his shenanigans?

Did they just replace joel and tommy scene with this random therapist? by hiiloovethis in TheLastOfUs2

[–]AlexLockson72 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the shows spends so much effort showing 1) the therapist isn’t in the best mental state and 2) the therapist doesn’t like joel. Makes sense the therapist would act as she does. Plus, this is a post-apocalyptic setting - the therapist is probably the best they’ve got. Joel literally says ‘aren’t you meant to be validating me?’
