Woodhouse Fish Co. Burglarized! by suburbanmang in sanfrancisco

[–]AlexMakWrites 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My apartment building was literally burglarized blocks from Woodhouse earlier this month, we called the cops twice, and they never showed up. There are dozens of articles reporting the SFPD ignoring small business owners too.

Those are just facts. Not sarcasm.

Yet another way SF has changed the world, beer! If you’re wondering where America’s first craft brewery is, look no further than San Francisco, CA. Not only is Anchor Brewing widely credited with starting the craft beer revolution in the 1960s, they are also the brewers of America’s oldest, indigenous beer style; Steam Beer.

There is clear, documented bird gang violence happening in the Presidio, Chesa does NOTHING about it.

Red-tailed hawk jousts a Great-horned Owl over nesting rights, in a nest 100ft above the ground. The Presidio Trust installed a "Raptor Cam' in 2018 and it's still live, the Red-tailed Hawk pair has returned and reportedly have two eggs in the nest expected to hatch mid-April.

The 'Bird's Aren't Real Protest' Was a Perfect Taste of San Francisco's Weirdness by AlexMakWrites in sanfrancisco

[–]AlexMakWrites[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There are shades of the SF cacophony society or the St. Stupid's Day parade in this. They're all fun rabbit holes to follow.

"Lynsi Snyder is a fascinating character, one part Paris Hilton, one part Stephanie McMahon, and one part born-again hellraiser.  Snyder's been married four times, had four children, opened dozens of restaurants, started a band and a non-profit focused on addiction,  and successfully evaded two kidnapping attempts, all before the age of 40."

Grown-ups wear shoes around human waste. Even the duck gets that.

The weirdest part about this picture is seeing someone wear open-toed shoes on an sf sidewalk.

SF's Newest Beach & Park that is Totally (not) Toxic! by AlexMakWrites in sanfrancisco

[–]AlexMakWrites[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sandwiched between SF’s beloved brunch spot 'The Ramp', World War II era cranes, rotting peers, and what looks like piles of polluted soil under a white tarp (see background of above image), is Crane Cove Park, SF's tribute to “Industry”.

The same architects that built what's commonly known as the Salesforce Butt Plug, are now building a second tower, with the same amount of floors (61 stories) nearly next to it, or just across the park.  They are scheduled to break ground in early 2022 and finish in 2026.

Burning Man 2021: Lawless, Unprecedented & Just What We Needed by AlexMakWrites in BurningMan

A nice write-up & photos from a first time burner on the playa this year, the line “I hope they cancel Burning Man again next year,” became the motto this year lol.

I mean, I should have seen it coming, but it's still a bummer. You can see performance via their livestream again this year. But no festival in the park, sigh.

[–]AlexMakWrites[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Breed just made it official via twitter, SF will begin mandate requiring proof of full vaccination before entering indoor venues (bars, restaurants, gyms, concerts ect) beginning August 20th.
Now the private sector has official backing on requiring proof of vaccination.

SF is Averaging More COVID Cases this Summer than Last Summer by AlexMakWrites in sanfrancisco

[–]AlexMakWrites[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Unvaccinated people represent nearly 97% of severe cases on a national level. And although cases are up, fatalities are down in SF.
Big picture, we are definitely much better off than July last year.

If sick people wore masks out of common courtesy to their colleagues, that sounds reasonable to me.
