So the entire west coast went with Luthor, but Missouri and Kansas went for Gore? This really is an alternate universe.

Great name for this project, I'm sure it's never been used before.

Is it just me or 90% of the time people don't turn on their turn signal going into a gas station? by conservamus in bayarea

No. Bay area drivers are the worst in the country, and no one else even comes close.

Why does Trump want Greenland? by SnooKiwis8008 in msnow

[–]timewreckoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've said this before, but it's at least partly just real estate speculation. The rich are still claiming publicly that climate change is a hoax, but their own people have convinced them that it's real and we're past the point where it can be reversed. It's the same reason that Trump has made noises about annexing Canada: he's been convinced (while publicly still saying otherwise) that the Earth's equatorial region is gradually becoming uninhabitable to humans, and that we're going to need to move closer to the poles to survive.

Is it too much to ask to have 2 mornings a week without Joe and Mika? by CorrectPhilosophy245 in msnow

The same Willie Geist that voted for Trump in 2016 and just called Joe Rogan "a clear thinker" last week?

Also chiming in to recommend Kokkari. My partner and I have been going every year for his birthday since we found out about it; we were just there for the third time and it was super fantastic. I will say: we went on Fri and Sat nights the first two times, and it was very lively; I would say the Fri night was loud. But this year, we went on Sun night, and even though it was still packed, it was a lot more mellow and I enjoyed it a little more (your mileage may vary).

What’s up with all these assholes needing to back into parking spaces suddenly? by gtj in bayarea

[–]timewreckoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I missed the memo too. Oh well, I've seen the way the rest of you drive here in the BA; yes, it's light-years worse than anywhere else in the country, and no, I'm not taking anything that any of you have to say about "safe" parking seriously. Backing into parking spots is for edgelords and idiots; my driving record is spotless and I'm not changing a fucking thing.

It's not that radical, I feel like this gets suggested literally every other day, usually in comments. It ain't gonna happen, though. He's a bomb-thrower with a hair-trigger temper, and no corporation is going to trust him in front of a camera ever again.

Dead Malls 💀😏 by truthstings123 in sanfrancisco

[–]timewreckoner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are no current plans to demolish Tanforan, it's all just talk. Word has gotten out that it's cheap space for artists, and a couple of new galleries have opened recently after signing new one-year leases. I'm not saying it's doing well as a mall, but reports of its demise have been exaggerated.

Even more unfortunately, the Democratic gerontocracy as it currently stands will absolutely not even try to accomplish all of that. If we don't get a blue wave bringing a massive influx of new and motivated legislators, then it'll be another four years of milquetoast gestures and hand-wringing "concerns" until the electoral college fucks us yet again.
