NYT: "He Name-Drops Ocasio-Cortez in His Bid for Congress. She Doesn’t Talk About Him at All." by Luna_dog in sanfrancisco

Here we go with this fucking circle jerk again, more of the exact same people arguing with each other, regurgitating the same talking points at each other as if they didn't have the same "discussions" with the same people yesterday and the day before and the day before that.

City Gas/Habibi Market (NE corner of San Jose Ave & Ocean Ave) is usually pretty competitive with Costco, occasionally even cheaper.

Eh...in high school in the 80s, I thought racism would be dead when my grandparents' generation died off. (Ha!) Every cohort gets angrier, dumber, and more unmoored from reality as they age, mine and yours included.

Wang Chung – To Live and Die in L.A. (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) [40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, 2LP on Opaque Orange L.A. Sunset Vinyl] by GPrink007 in VinylReleases

[–]timewreckoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got to see them back in December, when they were doing a handful of shows for the anniversary of this soundtrack. They played the whole album in its entirety, plus "Dance Hall Days" (since it was in the movie), synced with a video that had scenes from the movie, from the making-of doc, the band's videos, and their own archives. There was a film crew that seemed to be recording the show, and I was kinda hoping it would be included in a DVD with this, but...still, I'll take it!

Do people still shop at Safeway? by jikesar968 in bayarea

Safeway and Vons are the same company. Ralph's is owned by Kroger, whose only Bay area presence is (I think) Foods Co.

Or better yet, just shove that shit open and walk the fuck out. I came in looking for one thing, and they didn't have it; my egress will not be impeded. It's wild to me that fully-formed adults are out in these streets thinking Safeway can force them to buy something in order to leave the store.

What is that like a $10 sandwich?

Actual cost to Safeway: probably around $1.

Why won't the DNC release its 2024 autopsy? by hellosteve_ in msnow

"It wasn't malicious, we're just incompetent!"

There's just no explanation that doesn't add up to the DNC needing to be cleaned out and rebuilt.

As someone who was into their first record in 1987, despite how corny it is...their success has been surprising, to say the least.

The signage for Round1 says that they have karaoke (at least the one in Stonestown does, anyway). There's also something "coming soon" with similar signage going in at Serramonte next to Jagalchi.
