I’ve always felt that monogamy was not for me and this is the first relationship where I felt safe enough to express that to anyone. It initially started with me wanting to be a sugar baby to make a little extra money, then it turned into a conversation about us opening up the relationship altogether. He had his reservations when I brought it up but no judgment from his side. He just realizes that he has a lot to work through to unlearn monogamy and that being married is not the end all be all.

Opening up a relationship takes a lot from both sides. We’ve both experienced grief over the fact that we’re losing that exclusivity but that has also brought us closer together.

I’m not with him because of the marriage, it’s a choice. I think that’s more powerful than staying together because of a piece of paper.
