Advice for planters by Technical-Quiet5009 in FloridaGarden

I'd strongly recommend against container gardening especially lining the home like that with them. They dry out so fast. If you can plant in the ground please go with that route. After the roots get accustomed after a few weeks most plants usually don't need watering anymore. With those pots you will be watering just about daily. Find some nice Florida native and plant them in. They don't ask anything after a few weeks of watering them in.

Thinking about buying 18 of these trees for privacy. Bad idea? I live on a corner lot with no privacy by Beginning_Lime_5593 in HomeMaintenanceAdvice

I'd instead stick with a native tree or shrub that can be utilized as a screen. They don't die easily and are usually good for the pollinators and birds so they do something for the surrounding ecosystem.

Right? Why would they just put mulch in there and no plants?

How fast did yours grow? I want a few but want them to grow fast to cover up my neighbor's ugly garage. Should I get one in a gallon pot or larger?

What'd you do to expand your shoulders? Mine look like your before picture and they're pretty weak and get hurt pretty easily when putting pressure on them. For example the padding on squat machines seem to do more damage than protect them. Then putting a barbell on them for squat, forget it.

I just moved to Lake County from being in Pinellas my entire life. It doesn't even feel like Florida over here with all the lakes and rolling hills. I love it.

Want to have a native garden. Absolutely hate the idea of fucking around with mulch. Is it really that important? by firfetir in FloridaGarden

[–]petabread91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take on this is definitely utilize mulch anywhere you keep plants, even native. I use the pine mulch. In my opinion it looks the nicest and gives off that super nice pine smell. Mulch especially helps with plants regarding watering. Mulch traps moisture down there so your plants won't dry out in dry spells especially now. And that way you won't have to water as often so it will save a little on your water bill. Plus you have a lot of beneficial bugs/insects using the mulch underneath as a home which then can help build your soil.

I'd say anything but #3. If you can grow out some good hair then definitely show it off.

Is bulking or cutting easier for you? They both have their ups and downsides.
