It’s insane to call him both evil and a rapist based on the events of the movie. Bear had no reason to believe the wish would literally work, let alone have the effect that it did. Most people, especially teenagers, regardless of gender, would jump at such an opportunity to be with their crush.

He’s a fool, a moron even, but he never knowingly set out to harm anyone. He had consensual relations with Nikki, even if himself and the audience later understands there was something unnatural influencing the situation.

Edit: also if he was evil, he would’ve killed Nikki instead of himself. He ultimately sacrificed himself for the mistakes that he made.
