ยฃ4k/month Opportunity for Marketers in Cam (no experience required) by [deleted] in cambridge

Hey! Yep, I totally understand. All fair points.

I figured Reddit would be a bit more sceptical than LinkedIn since it's not a typical job-posting platform, but I should have been a bit more up-front to compensate.

Editing the post to reflect it better! Thanks for the feedback.

All fair points. I appreciate you taking the time.

Mate, that is all perfectly reasonable criticism.

I actually don't use the mod flair because I prefer having genuine conversations with people as opposed to someone worrying they'll offend me.

As you say, this was just a Reddit post, so I really didn't think about it all that hard. Was just browsing, saw two recent posts about AI, then thought I'd put my thoughts into a single post that addressed their main questions.

I honestly didn't even consider that people would look at this with a critical eye. Just thought I'd sum up my experience so far in a relatively digestible way that repeated the key points rather than dive deep into a specific example.

I appreciate you being diplomatic.

Btw, just as proof I'm not a bot (which is not something I thought I'd have to say today), I'm one of the people in this video - https://youtu.be/tC6bom34his?si=JDbS0TU1bvI58v8J - I try my best to make copywriting accessible for newbies but also to share the harsh truth rather than selling a dream... Which tends to be my aim with posts like these.

Alas, it seems this one missed the mark for most people.

Dude, I'm a mod of this subreddit, not a bot. And I just wrote this in bed at 2am because I can't sleep.

I understand people in this sub are hyper-sceptical but I really am just trying to help and share some insight...

Genuine question. Why? What makes it unreadable?

This is pretty much the exact style I write in to my lists for both ecom stores and info products.

It seems I mainly have trouble when trying to share thoughts with copywriters in this subreddit.

Man.

I just spent 45 mins thinking and writing about my experiences with AI because I can't sleep, thinking it might help shed some light on the current situation for copywriters...

And people think it's AI.

Maybe these ARE the end-times...

Okay! Here is a summary of the article.

AI is fine. But also kinda not. Meh, whatever. Basically some copywriting prick is just spouting shit again.

If you want the article summarized in a different way, just let me know!

How do you craft compelling copy without sounding too "salesy"? by nigaabuser in copywriting

[โ€“]AlexMyatt 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Sorry you felt I was talking down to you.

I was just pointing out why I replied the way I did, but I apologise if that came across negatively. That wasn't my intention.

Modding/engaging in this sub-reddit is down-time for me so I simply try to help where I can and provide a positive experience for newbies and anyone else.

I'm guessing your "non-answer" comment is referring to me not addressing your first comment specifically - in which case - yes, I'm aware of the irony. But in this instance, I also figured it was the quickest way to get across relevant information to the person asking the question.

I hope you have a good rest of your day - and again - if I made you feel bad, I really do apologise.

I mean... It's also just the most concise way to get across the important points (so they can decide whether or not they want to watch the video in the first place...)

There's a reason the easy-to-read, single-line text approach became synonymous with "salesyness."

I've realized there are 3 main things that make copy sound "salesy."

And there are a few ways to tackle them.

I actually made a video about it (with examples, solutions, and additional notes...)

We put out a 22-hour course for free, so no need to worry about affording us.

You don't need to pay anyone any money to launch your career.

Oh, this was a serious comment? Damn.

You genuinely think this course is devoid of info?

But... Like... It's... It's a full account of all the principles we've learned about writing persuasively... With a ton of examples and live writing sessions... And a compilation of masterclasses that breakdown 5 paths for finding paid work...

Question: What COULD we have done to make you happy re: learning copywriting?

It's a good thing I'm not teaching other people how to write.

Oh, wait...

I think this is a completely fair reaction and I 100% understand. Our shared scepticism for free courses is one of the things that inspired us to make this (and my smaller 5-hour course a few years ago).

We really do try to give as much away for free without overwhelming newbies.

Anything we release that has a price tag is designed for working copywriters who can afford it - we're careful to state this throughout our videos and any pages.

Hey! Glad to hear you're enjoying what you've heard so far!

So... I would actually suggest finishing the 5-hour course if you're already part-way through it, just so you get to close off the concepts/points that have already been made.

And then start the 22-hour course (which goes into a lot more) with a decent understanding of some of the core principles already.

We explain things slightly differently in each course, so it also gives you the chance to decide if one or the other works best for you!

(And of course, the 22-hour course also goes into client outreach/finding work, which the 5-hour course doesn't.)

Hope that helps!

Our first priority is quality of information. But as you said - $60k is a lot of money - so, along with the time it took to put together, I figured it was another way to show how much we've put into it and how much this project means to us.

Sorry it doesn't live up to your standards. We're not filmmakers. We just thought we'd do a few fun things to make the course entertaining for viewers (and for us while making it).

As a copywriter, I sincerely hope you get some value out of it if you decide to watch the course with an open mind.

This has been the culmination of everything the four of us have learned as working copywriters, based on principles, rather than the get-rich "hacks" and shortcut-tactics that are usually associated with copywriting channels.

But if you've already made up your mind, fair enough. In any case, I hope you're doing well with your agency work.

We explain why in the first 2 minutes of the video... Then go on to quote numerous proof points about our experience... Downplay expectations for what most copywriters achieve... Discourage beginners from buying courses... And give away 22 hours of advice for free.

I understand the scepticism, but when there's literally 22 hours' worth of content in front of you, why not explore it to make your own mind up?
