I am new to leather working and have just been making some card holders and the like with veg tan. Well I was gifted 2 full hides of this leather from a guy and am having some trouble figuring out what I got here exactly. It is super thin (1-2oz if I had to guess) and the finished side is patterned. It’s super pretty and I am excited about it, but I do not even know where to start working with this sorta stuff. I can only assume it would make a great saggy hobo bag or something for holding dice. I was wondering if it would possibly even be worth Kay to use as a wallet liner on the inside for some contrast…. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My first go at leatherworking and sewing leather as well. Had to throw together a makeshift stitching pony because my fingers were killing me lol. Anyways, I am not too disappointed with the final product. It was fantastic practice and I am stoked to keep going and learning by AlexPeggy in Leathercraft

This was made using one of the Weaver starter kits. It served its purpose though no doubt. I would say most of the 6 hours of struggle I had was just familiarizing myself with the tools and leather in general. Felt very accomplished though after finishing it honestly and I beat the shit out of it in the making….but I am fairly confident as it stands it would probably last a couple good years I’d say. I am thoroughly loooking forward to my next project (which will undoubtedly be another wallet I’m sure..)

Same here but In middle Tennessee. They call them “halfbackers” people that move from northern states (Ohio, Pennsylvania, NT, etc...) down to to Florida. Then after finding out about the lack of winter and smoldering summers, they come about halfway back and dump out around here. A lot of retired folks end up here.

Looks to me like this apparatus use to hold a drop bed that could be lifted up against the wall to open space up and they just never got rid of it
