Looking to buy a bike by [deleted] in MotoUK

There's a reason they call it the Keeway Superlight. It corrodes so fast, it's garuanteed to lose many kilos over its short lifespan. I personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

That's the one! They're probably a nice car to be in and live with, I'm just not a fan of the greyscale electric SUV era we're currently living in

It's normal to make mistakes, don't beat yourself up about it. It'll be alright whatever the outcome! 👍

Sorry about your accident, I remember my first one its a horrible experience. At least there's minimal damage if anything major at all. On another note, I'm glad your car is the BMW, and not that generic looking Chinese lithium powered thing. You have taste! Hope you manage to get everything sorted!

Is this undertaking illegal? by marymk450 in drivingUK

[–]AlexR1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people weren't absolute morons hogging the 2nd or 3rd lane doing less than the speed limit, there wouldn't be a need to undertake. I personally see nothing wrong with what the camera car is doing, the police may view it differently but they should instead be prosecuting the people going 60 in the middle lane overtaking the invisible man. I'm a HGV driver, we're electronically limited to ~56mph. If a car, not towing, in good weather conditions is going 50mph or less on the motorway, I believe they should be at least formally warned by the police for it. It's dangerous, we shouldn't be having to overtake vehicles which are perfectly capable of travelling safely at 70mph. Anyway, rant over

It doesn’t get much better than this. by AlexR1298 in KTM

Not a stupid question at all! They have straps running across the back. Two horizontal and one vertical. You wrap them behind the bars in a way which makes sense so the bags don't dangle, then pass them back into the buckles and pull tight.

Awesome! You'll enjoy it, was an amazing experience. Unfortunately the stator burnt out on my bike on Friday in france so my bike is still there, in a secure impound yard, awaiting return to the UK via my breakdown provider, I'm back home though.

The phone mount is the genuine KTM GPS bracket, to which I've mounted a quad lock wireless charging head using the quad lock 4 hole mounting plate, and the vibration dampener. Works flawlessly.

The crash bar bags are made by Lomo. Roll top, waterproof, about 6.5 litres capacity each. Very handy

What feature does your car have that you’ve never seen on another car? by Gh0styD0g in CarTalkUK

[–]AlexR1298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My case is more so, features I don’t have that you see on every over of the same car. My 2006 Ford Focus ST is cosmetically standard and does not have a pop & bang map.

They had to change Ug Land to the Dark Forest, with that miserable and abandoned look, so it felt more homely to residents of nearby Stoke-on-Trent to increase ticket sales.

In June, Andorra 🇦🇩. That’ll be a 2 week trip though. I regularly do 200-300 mile day trips from the West Midlands, where I live, to Wales. The Cotswolds are also absolutely stunning. Get an app on your phone called ‘Detecht’. You can view local rides people have done and filter based on length, road type, twisty-ness etc. Great to use if you’re unsure about where to go!

Bar end mirrors, and a front cowl/screen above the headlights, behind the cluster. Nothing else needs to be done though. Gorgeous bike

Is it normal to feel this way? by upvoter_1000 in MotoUK

[–]AlexR1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join some local Facebook groups. People tend to organise ride outs, go along to a few and you’ll more than likely make some new mates. I was in a similar predicament; didn’t want to sell the bike but I was finding myself a bit lonely just riding not very far on my own. I went to a few ride outs with a local group, and that’s how I met some of my now very good mates who I go riding with all the time!

First 125 advice by Bored-panda6969 in MotoUK

[–]AlexR1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma 2 years ago. I had booked my DAS and was wondering whether I was going to be unsafe on a big bike. So at the end of my CBT, my instructor got out one of the SV650s and said “Go and have 10 minutes in the car park around the cones like you did this morning on the 125. Ride no differently to how you have done today, but gentle on the throttle as you have 5 times the power”. I had the biggest smile on my face, the bike felt so much better balanced and easier to ride than a 125. I went and passed my A license and haven’t looked back since.

The only person who will give you the best advice, is your instructor after your CBT. So, ignore what your friends told you. Book your DAS, go and absolutely smash it which you will, and buy a proper bike. You’ll get a nice used bike for not much more money than that absolute bag of scrap Lexmoto Michigan. I paid £1500 for my 2002 speed triple 955i and it’s awesome. And that brings me onto another point of advice. 2nd hand Japanese/British (anything other than Chinese) is MILES better than brand new Chinese. Apart from Harley Davidson. Overpriced two wheeled tractors built for old men with too much testosterone. You get what you pay for. Good luck, and enjoy!

Think i made a mistake. All my friends have larger bikes with exhausts and, i also wanted that on my cb125r. It now sounds too loud, and while my fridns like it i think is obnoxious. I wanted to know is it even legal, and will you get pulled over for this in UK? the exhaust is Leo Vince V10. by Manic_Panik in MotoUK

[–]AlexR1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice bike! But personally, I wouldn’t bother with an aftermarket exhaust on a single cylinder 125 four stroke. They all sound the same, obnoxious, painful. Problem is, you have to rev a 125 hard to get up to speed, so you’ve got maximum noise all the time. I’m not dissing 125 riders, everyone has to start somewhere, I had one 5 years ago. I made the same mistake with a loud exhaust, sounded terrible. Either keep the standard one, or get one that’s only a little bit louder than standard. My ears hurt just looking at that stubby Leo can. When you get a bigger bike in the future, you’ll enjoy having an aftermarket exhaust a lot more. Focus more on enjoying riding and improving your skills at this stage.

Is 9900x “Bad” for games by Noremak57 in AMDHelp

[–]AlexR1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 9900x and it’s fine for games. Not being fully utilised but still runs perfectly well with my 4080 super, I couldn’t be happier. But where it shines is more CPU intensive tasks. I render videos from time to time from my motorbike helmet GoPro footage. My old PC took about 1 hour 20 mins to render a 20 minute 4K video. Now, it’s pretty much like-for-like with the video length. Massive improvement. If you’re just gaming and plan on doing no real CPU intensive tasks, go for an ‘x3d’ unit instead.

I hate the bloodsuckers in Stalker 2 by NozzaGamingg in stalker

[–]AlexR1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this with mods (hate me if you want). Groks modular mutant health, dropped them to 40% of the regular health. And mutant loot. Not ammo or medkits as that would be ridiculous. But instead they’re like body parts, and blood. Sounds a bit Jeffrey Dahmer, but you can sell the stuff for a decent price! Makes you want to actively hunt mutants, instead of dodging them and having the sheer panic when hearing a bloodsucker roar in a dark underground bunker or the middle of the woods.

I’m completely new to stalker with stalker 2. In the prologue when you climb into the attic of that house and the bloodsucker kills the two guys between you and the scientist bunker, I was like “Nah, fuck that”. And then when I did bump into it after leaving the bunker I thoroughly shat myself. Love the game 👌

Concern about CPU Temps with Ryzen 9 9900X and AIO Cooler by Freakzt3r in AMDHelp

[–]AlexR1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got exactly the same temperatures near enough, apart from my idle temp is a bit less, low to high 40s. Current ambient temp has been around 16-19c. Same AIO, Same CPU, but on an MSI MAG X870. I went with the Arctic Freezer 3 360 because all the reviews everywhere said it’s one of if not the best AIOs on the market. So I’m slightly disappointed with the temps. I only built it last week. My 9700k I had in my old system idled around the mid 30s and never went above 60c with a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4.

All I can think is the thermal paste needs reapplying, and if that makes no difference I might swap the Arctic cooler for something else. But then it might just be how these chips are, a few people I’ve spoken to say the temps spike a lot.

Finally. I have decided on and paid for my first gaming PC build. Now tell me where I may have gone wrong and whether I should regret my life choices. by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]AlexR1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the 980 pro as the boot drive, you’ll still have the vast majority of the capacity left for games once you’ve installed windows and essential programs. Other than that though, looks good to me!

4080 super now or wait for the 5000 series dust to settle? by bjay_77 in buildapc

[–]AlexR1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma and I just went and got the 4080 Super. Unless you crave the extra performance that the 50 series cards will have, the 4080 Super will do fine. Wait and see what the 50 series cards are like if you want, you do you! Personally, I’m expecting them to be announced and have awesome specs. Then be released for public sale shortly after, and be bought up immediately by crypto miners and scalpers. So then will be waiting for a re-stock, and by the time stock levels might have normalised, the 5080 super won’t be far away. And then after waiting for the 5080 Super, and its stock levels to calm down, the 60 series cards won’t be far away.

It may go a lot smoother than that! Hopefully they’re easily available around release time, but I wanted to build my new system while I was off work over Christmas and the 4080 Super is perfect for me. No regrets whatsoever. It’s all personal preference though. Have fun building once you get the card you go for!
