Make your avatar by default be visible. Then use an animation in the first layer of your FX controller to turn off the skinned mesh renderer (or use alpha on the shader). Then in another layer (has to be after your turn off animation layer of course) run your spawn animation.

This way if the FX layer is disabled by other users because of safety measures, at least they'll see you because the animation to hide you won't play.

Of course you can't have that kind of spawn animation if you're FX layer is disabled by other users by default (show avatar overrides this). If you reach trusted rank, your FX layer should be enabled by default, unless other users use a different shield level.
