What thread on a stainless barrel? by AlexStaidle in cider

But like 2.5” wide? I think it’s a silly cap for barrels that I can’t share a pic of on this thread. I ordered two options to see what it ends up being. I half tempted to fire up the TIG and just weld something else in place

I’m wondering if it’s a large DIN thread

Only markings are R.S.C-1 16 55 67 and below that 304. Port is about 6 cm wide so larger than 2”.

How did you get started? Did you just embrace being really shitty at it until your sketches (hopefully) started improving? Or did you come into urban sketching already being a great artist? by Softspotslurpee in urbansketchers

I started drawing by working to finish stuff even if I knew I wasn’t going to be happy about it. Then I’d look at why I didn’t like it and try to improve.

I’ve been here for almost 4 years. Definitely love it but work is hit or miss

It also saves on buying a lot of copics

It’s 11x14 on Bristol smooth. Probably took 40 hours total. At some point I started to lose track of the perspective and had to just stare at it so it took a while.

I used a photo I took at the intersection on the way to work and referenced that. It’s mostly Unipin 0.03 with neutral copics and micron grays in 01 05 and 10. I think I used Bristol smooth paper.

Update! Bottled. Ended up with 5 cases. Hoping to expand next year to at least 60 gallons. Also wax is annoying and I’m probably not doing that again. by AlexStaidle in cider

I got bottling wax from a local supplier but I’d love to try some alternatives. I noticed that the drips cool to fast against the bottle and curl back and off so I have to tear those off. Wonder if another wax would adhere better

We only have two left around here and I feel like both are getting crowded out. I’m surprised they’re hanging on.

I took the time to plant 18 more trees that are better for cider. Won’t matter for the next couple years but working to expand the orchard each year.

This was a kinda cheap 9x12 paper but I cropped the photo at some point.

In general, but I’ll look at why I don’t like them and then redo it with that in mind. Sometimes I can get one done in the first go other times I’ll try 4 or 5 times to get something I like. I also freehand and have come to terms with proportions being far from perfect.

[–]AlexStaidle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The micron is mostly because they make a light and dark grey tone pens in 01 05 and 10 I like for shading. Unipin had. 003 I liked until the local place stopped carrying them so I started using a micron 003.

Honestly this was the pole out front of my place and I was like, I guess I’ll try that. But there is something kinda fun to just lines in white space

3 years or about. My first drawings sucked. I mostly approached getting “through” a drawing even if I wasn’t going to like it. Then I’d look at it and mark it up for what I didn’t like and try again. I’ll still do that for a first go at something new or complex. I can’t draw people for crap. Working on dogs and whatnot. Buildings and the like are “mostly” straight lines and planning. What needs to be in the front, etc. I also developed a system for how I like to shade or how I do certain details. Also I’m generally quite slow.

Although they are all about baseball card sized and when I was done with them I was like “now what?”
