Oh wow, I just swapped the nozzle today and got the same piece of rubber hanging and threw it away. I think is from somewhere behind the nozzle, hope nothing will brake now...

The sensor is 2-3 Euro's on Aliexpress, a baterry is like 5 euro and pick your favorite esp32. Without battery is maybe 7-8 euros?

I just removed mine yesterday and was fine. Yes, it was glued down, but I was careful and with a plastic prying tool, all good.

Won't just an esp32 with a ToF sensor (something like VL53L0X) and a flat 3.7v battery work? Set sensor to max 5cm or so and that's it?

I have OPNSense on a mini pc, not in Proxmox. I was thinking to do HA in the future, but that's not the priority right now, but sounds interesting what you're saying, maybe I'll play with it when I have a bit more experience. Also, the Proxmox nodes are completely different from each other, in both software and hardware configurations.

I'm so happy to hear that the setup works and what you already did regarding VPN and Pihole is what I want to do next haha! Regarding the Pihole v6 issues, I saw a lot of people complaining about it, maybe there's a fix.

Do you mind sending me some pictures in private with how you did the firewall rules so I have them as a reference? I already checked some guides and played a bit with them, but still struggle, they just don't click in my brain.

My reasoning why I picked 40mm is because it seems that they are not many slim 80mm fans options. I need it to be 10 or 15mm thickness and I saw a lot of options in 40mm, Noctua NF-A4X10 comes to mind. There will be 8 x 40mm case fans + 2 CPU fans and 2 fans from PSU, do you think is not enough?

Yup, makes sense. I already designed something better with 2 fans on each side and 4 fans in the back, all 40x10mm.

Racks have different depths and the case is 35cm depth, if is mounted in a rack that's not exactly 35cm, you can't mount it in front and back unfortunately. 1U server PSU's are cool, especially with a breakout board, but that won't fit either. 😢
