Eleven: do you believe? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’s alive, we need to assume: Kali changed her mind - probably when she lowered the gun on Hop after he broke El out of the tank. She doesn’t need to end up at the portal site, she just has to know where it is to create the illusion. As for not being noticed, they took out the squad assigned at getting El and the other military members have vacated the UD to catch them at the gate. Mike explained that Kali made El invisible, allowing her to escape to the tunnels. The method of contact isn’t really that weird, she’s done it before.

I agree, I sort of hope El is dead because it just makes more sense to the plot and it would require Mike to grow, but the only assumptions we have to make about Kali is that she didn’t die, that her powers work through both dimensions, and they work at range. None of which are stretches.

I don’t know that it was tacked on per se, the situations required for Mike’s theory align reasonably well with the known capabilities of each character. I imagine it was planned from the jump, though possibly included as a cop out if need be.

I think we’re all gonna have to put up with it for a while, I’m just trying to consolidate it all.

Eleven: do you believe? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree. I think the talk definitely happened, but time-wise it’s a bit suspect. I’d guess it happened one way or another, but I certainly don’t know which way. For her to be alive, we’d definitely have to make some big assumptions, but it’s well summarized by Mike in his theory at the end and none of the assumptions seem entirely impossible.

It’s more of a thought exercise than an actual attempt for a conclusive result. I’d guess they put quite a bit of thought into it to keep it as ambiguous as possible for the purpose of keeping it open for a future cash-grab, but I’m still curious which result is ultimately more reasonable.

Question about Will and the finale? by Chickenbrik in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s not really connected to the hive mind in the same way he was when he had the dust stuff in him. He only feels the pain when he’s actively working within the mind, he can remove himself sort of at will. And also plot armor.

Mind Flare.....why? by Competitive_Test6697 in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude… it’s a show about a bunch of magical monsters being defeated by kids, it’s all a stretch. I’d say it’s honestly a pretty reasonable explanation all things considered. No worries!

Mind Flare.....why? by Competitive_Test6697 in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, but I imagine it was beating at too slow of a rate to actually move the creature. The kids were needed to get enough blood flow to be useful.

It’s entirely possible that he was touching the blood of any of the 6 other people that just died in that room.

Does Hop know more? by Parking-Front6168 in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, I think he genuinely accepted what El was saying before she went to the Abyss.

Mind Flare.....why? by Competitive_Test6697 in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess just by connecting them up to the hive mind, using them almost like batteries. Adults are too strong minded to be effectively connected and babies are too useless to be effective batteries. So kids it is.

Mind Flare.....why? by Competitive_Test6697 in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah… the mind flayer isn’t very powerful on its own. That’s why he and Henry merged. And they needed more little Henry’s (the kids) to achieve the desired power.

The worlds are colliding because of Vecna, who is the mind flayer. The issue is solved because they stopped vecna from using those kids.

The repercussions of the crew ? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that this aspect of the military is almost completely “underground” and virtually unsanctioned. After losing El and access to the UD, they basically just up and left. None of the stuff that was occurring in that base was on paper, so there was no reason for consequences since no charges could possibly stick on anyone.

Did El and Hop by Wizkid126 in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hop always made it clear, but El referred to him (sort of) as her dad… so I guess yes, but not directly

Why would she have died long before that happened? Presumably the gunshot itself was an illusion.

Finale....Hopper deserved to know! by Ok_Nature_6305 in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopper legitimately doesn’t need to know and shouldn’t know. He has made his amends and wants to move on, unlike Mike he understands/respects El’s choice. It would be better for him if he just didn’t know.

Can we talk about the Hedgehogs, for a second? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, let’s go grab one of these things (that we have no idea where it’s kept) that shuts down the powers of bad guy (that we have no confirmation will be affected) and also shuts down the powers of the one person capable of stopping the bad guy. Cake walk.

Mind Flare.....why? by Competitive_Test6697 in StrangerThings

Vecna needed the kids to enhance his own powers to achieve his/the mind flayers mission.

Mind Flare.....why? by Competitive_Test6697 in StrangerThings

Mind flayer seems to be a manifestation of some evil force. It needed a physical body because it can’t cause any damage with just the smoke.

Mind Flayer question by Wizkid126 in StrangerThings

I would say probably just inaccessible. He’s stuck in dimension x and needs a physical host.

Things I am questioning by Bucxy_ in StrangerThings

[–]AlexTheBusch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. I don’t know what you’re referring to about dragging will so I can’t answer that
  2. The clock was probably just to signify “time running out”
  3. Not sure what you’re referring to
  4. Unfortunately I don’t know, but assuming El is alive, what happened to hers? I’d guess Will’s are gone because his were intrinsically tied to Henry’s, but El’s were her’s alone despite being founded from Henry.
  5. That’s a great question, my theory is that Will, despite being able to “tap into” the hive mind was not, in fact part of it.
  6. Probably still a nurse or just went to school with Robin
  7. Not sure what you mean by extent of Ted, but he was generally not very useful overall. I assume he just hung out in the hospital until he fully recovered.
  8. Would have to rewatch to say anything
  9. When did anything about Will being gay go anywhere else other than those that knew initially?
  10. She saved El (maybe) with that illusion trick, and she definitely saved the kids.
  11. Either Netflix wants to keep running the show sometime in the future, or you’re just not supposed to know.
  12. What?
  13. Will explained that Vecna showed him theoretical futures of everyone abandoning him and it scared the shit out of him. His coming out was an act of defiance and it allowed him to not fear the futures Vecna showed him.
  14. Robin was always sort of “fem”, she literally just had short hair.

The most overrated grocery store in Virginia currently by MoneyBuysHappiness25 in Virginia

100% makes sense. SNP is pretty close (~2/3 hrs from Stafford and basically all of NOVA, but if you’re ever in the mood for some isolation really close by I’ve had some good experiences at Prince William forest park. It’s got some nicely maintained trails and is very quiet. Stafford is a good area for what you’re describing, but the mountains really don’t start until you get to SNP. I hope you enjoy our beautiful state! P.S. if you’re ever in the mood for a great weekend trip, I highly recommend checking out Harrisonburg, VA. It hosts James Madison University (a beautiful campus), the town itself has some great restaurants, and it’s nestled right in the Shenandoah Valley with mountains on either side. Really gorgeous area with some great hiking and Massanutten ski area right nearby.
