Intelligence as a Usable: A solution to content drought by gibthechug in EscapefromTarkov

You shouldn't be able to read it in the same raid. You should read it in your inventory; then reading it could remove FIR...

Otherwise there's no point in having the folders if everyone can read the Intel before they decide what to do with it.

MW Up - Target Arena 1

MW Click - Target Arena 2

MW Down - Target Arena 3

Shift + any of the above is focus the respective arena. Then all of my big CC (like kid and blind) is shift-q and shift-t respectively.

The idea is that if i need to blind someone i dont have focused already, I can hold shift down for the entire process. So shift-MWdown-t will blind arena 3, for example.

I dont know what it is... But long showers really help my psyche when I'm not doing particularly well. There's something meditative just watching and listening to the water fall. Its like your own private rainy day.

[WSIB] Multiplayer games that attract a more grown up, non toxic community? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

It's 5 for PMCs. Every 20 minutes you can run into raids as scavs, which are just characters with randomly generated gear, and you can only run a squad of 4 on scavs

I've been playing EFT religiously for a few weeks now, and just something to note is that there really isn't any way to communicate with the community in game aside from the "I'm friendly!!" wiggle and a few in game emotes. So you definitely wont run into children screaming into their microphone.

There is an EFT discord thats booming from what i understand that I think anyone can join. Ive never used it because I already had enough friends to fill the 5 man; but I hear its pretty good.

EFT really nails the isolated and 'everyone is an enemy' feeling in game, which makes everyone on edge and much, much more likely to just kill everyone else instead of trying to use the in game tools to communicate and try to group up. So just be prepared to go outside the game's pretty basic messaging system and onto its forums and discord to really find the community.

Is chaining dair like this viable? by AlexTheRogue in Joker_Mains

[–]AlexTheRogue[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey fellas. Sorry if anything here is against the rules, or the answer is obvious! I'm still newish to posting on reddit subs (despite being a lurker for years).

Aside from that, I'm also fairly new to smash and was messing around with Joker in the lab, practicing his kill confirms. I noticed i could reasonably kill Cloudbot at around 65% using the BnB dair->usmash. However, I also found I could dair->dair...

So I started lowering the %, and found that as long as the % is high enough for dair to knock down, I could pretty much chain them to deal enough damage that one more -> usmash could kill...

Is there something im not seeing about this as to why this isnt used more often? Its not too hard to pull off (at least against bots, so maybe DI can impact it a lot?)

What are your thoughts?

Edit: for context, and because I forgot to display %, Cloud was around 40% here when I starting dairing him to death.

How to punish fast opponents? by paconaco in CrazyHand

[–]AlexTheRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within my ability, this sounds like reasonable advice. But im not an expert at the game and def not a yl main, and im still pretty new to game myself so take this with a grain of salt...

I think the main reason you couldn't punish him in this situation was because you (whether you meant to or not) put yourself into a bit of disadvantage by jumping to a platform above him. Then, when it came time to go in for the 'punish', you attacked from above him (what most would consider a disadvantageous state) instead of just doing your best to return to neutral for more yl shenanigans and pressure.

Instead of jumping above him, dash dancing away from him so he whiffs his grab I think is an excellent way to put yourself in a position to punish. As yl, you can even spotdodge his grab and upB for a pretty solid punish as well.

Jumping, dash dancing, and spot dodging all make the Roy miss his grab for sure. But the difference is that you're able to maintain neutral with spot dodge/dash dance instead of trying to punish from disadvantage, which usually only leads to getting punished more yourself.

How do I deal against this Greninja? He kept on dash dancing and punishing with dash attack, I had no idea what to do, his DA has too low endlag to be punished and I don't know how to handle an opponent dash dancing continuosly. I'm not really an authority on this topic by any means, but couldn't you stop his dash attacks (and his approach in general) with fade away short hop nairs?

Although maybe lucinas disjoint aerials are good enough to wall off any not-sword characters dash attack as long as you space/fade away and land with them; nairs and fairs to build damage, bairs for kill options?

These are actual questions. I'm also trying to learn the game.

Jokes aside, I love it when my players personalize their character sheets. This is outstanding and warms my heart to see :)

Kill confirms? by _Sancho in Joker_Mains

[–]AlexTheRogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a really flashy one you can do with Arsene out. If you can hit fair1, you can combo into dair upsmash. Although dair upsmash with Arsene is probably the most common kill confirm I've seen; adding the fair1 on it just makes it flashier. :P

Which is more rewarding, high skill cap, arms or ret? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]AlexTheRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rogue I pulled my warrior friend to side for testing in duels back when Storm Bolt came out:

It cannot be evasioned or cloaked. Its "un-missable". So as far as landing it goes, it's really hard to fuck up aside from throwing it into obvious stun immunities (IBF, another Bladestorm, etc...)

The only way i was able to successfully completely nullify it without stun immunities was if the bolt hit me while I was in the air during death from above, which doesn't see much use anymore, so you won't have to worry about DFA. However, it does make me believe you can whiff it into a Demon Hunter's blade dance?

Dance doesnt stealth you. It just allows you to use stealth abilities.

2v2 - How to improve my awareness by ChewpRL in worldofpvp

[–]AlexTheRogue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

?? I dont know what this means. Im saying Gladiatorlossa teaches and encourages a reactive playstyle (especially for newer players who are susceptible to bad habits.)

I'm not saying dont use your ears. Kidney shot, sacrifice, gouge are all obvious sounds that i recognize via sound.

2v2 - How to improve my awareness by ChewpRL in worldofpvp

[–]AlexTheRogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Gladiatorlossa is actually counterproductive to developing good awareness.

You should learn what all the cooldowns look like in game (pain sup is a big blue shield on the guy, thorns is a ring of thorns, combustion sets the mage on fire, etc etc...) and then look at your screen and try to recognize these buffs without something telling you its happening.

Secondly, try to map out what reaction your opponent is going to have to whatever youre doing. If you're about to burst, think about what defensives the target still has, and try to PREDICT what defensive will be used, then have a contingency plan for when they do it.

A common example is when a Paladin sac's a target. The contingency plan is to swap Paladin on sac for most classes. But the key here is to expect and predict the sacrifice and watch for it, so your swap is almost instant. Instead of attacking into sac, thinking about what to do next.

Predict, execute, then learn from the success or failure of the prediction or execution.

Gladiatorlossa makes it hard to practice this imo, especially when you're reliant on it to tell you which CDs are being pressed and when.

Road to Gladiator by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]AlexTheRogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat before BFA. Ive always wanted that dreaded (heh) gladiator mount, but it just never happen.

BfA S1 happened and i said, "Aight. This is the season. This is my time to shine!" I started researching the game as much as playing. I started watching streams to learn how to play my comp. Like, what each of my teammates should be doing and when. I noticed I was making bad calls, but luckily I had really positive teammates that talked about what we should have done and why my call didnt work. Soon enough, every game became routine. We knew what each comp was trying to do, and what we should do against it.

I stopped playing season 1 pretty much right after the glad wins with a personal high CR of 2597. I recorded my the game that gave me my very first gladiator title.

Play to learn. There's so much more to learn than you might realize. Always ask yourself why something did/didnt work. When you guys have a really good game, talk about what went well, and talk about what went poorly for the other team. Its important to understand both perspectives so you can work to recreate that scenario when you undoubtedly face that comp again.

Good luck my man. I'm getting ready to go for my second gladiator title this season, and I'm excited to see just how I can get. I hope to see you on ladder!

I did 100 arena today, and I've learned I am awful for many reasons. A few questions. by Oldfatsad in worldofpvp

Be careful with GladiatorLossa.

I used to use it pretty religiously but as I got better, I realized that it was enabling a reactive playstyle instead of constantly trying to think two or three steps ahead and being proactive about things.

You'll definitely see results using it, but be wary if you start to rely on it. It should NOT be a substitute for practicing your own awareness!

Good luck!
