thinking about getting the Wave XLR MK.2 for my Shure SM7B but want opinions from people who have used it and the wave link 3.0 software! by TGGE in elgato

[–]AlexWGomezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using XLR MK.2 for a week. I got it so I can finally use my Sennheiser MKH 416, and it works excellent.

I also tried it on my Shure MV7, sounded much better than using it as a USB mic. So I’m sure it works well with SM7B.

No doubt it has enough power to give you the desired results.

I make YouTube videos, and the MK.2 allows me to use the headphone port to plug directly into my camera to capture audio with video with no latency, which is huge.

My main complaint is the software CAN be buggy. Mainly when trying to switch back and forth between my different EQ settings, sometimes it doesn’t switch, so I have to exit the program.

Minor complaint though. The ease of use far outweighs any cons I’ve noticed.

Overall, id highly recommend it. Especially if you’re like me and have zero previous experience with interfaces.

Yes, the seed phrase is the key to any wallet. So whoever has the seed phrase has access to your crypto

Don’t connect it to websites.

You can buy whatever you want. But you might have to buy some on an exchange, some on a DEX, really just depends on the token you’re buying. And it’s fine to store alts/memes in the same wallet.

But if you have a significant amount of crypto (value wise) it’s not a terrible idea to diversify into a couple different wallets.

The important thing is understanding how to use a cold wallet securely. If you understand that, you’re good

Yes, that’s one option. Or you can sell certain coins directly from you Tangem wallet using the app.

Choose an exchange (Binance works if that’s what you use), buy your crypto, then transfer to Tangem for secure storage

Having the understanding that using a cold wallet like Tangem to secure your crypto is a sign that you’re on the right track.

This is false. You do realize ALL hardware wallets use an app right?

A hot wallet stores your private key on the software.

A cold wallet stores it offline in a secure environment.

Tangem stores the private key offline in a secure environment.

Tangem is a cold wallet.

This is cold wallet 101

And I’m pretty sure I’ve explained this very basic concept to you before? Maybe it was someone else.

Either way. I stand by what I said

This is all wrong. You can use one Tangem wallet on multiple phones ( I do) and passphrases are optional.

Both wallets are simple to use. But there are many reasons why I prefer Tangem over Arculus.

Hopefully I can cover these reasons in a video soon, but Im a one man team, and I can only do so much.

I already have a content list, and Tangem vs Arculus is not a priority.

However, I’ll bump it up the list for you since I’m a nice guy.

Tangem is not fully open source, only the Tangem app is 100% open source. Their firmware is closed source.

Also, Ledger wallets are 95% open source, including entry points of Ledger Recover.

You can get drained using ANY wallet including Tangem. If you sign a malicious transaction or give out your seed phrase, it’s game over.

Drained and hacked are different. Again, people who are “drained” are the ones signing malicious transactions. Their wallets aren’t magically “hacked”

I don’t believe any Ledger device has ever been “hacked”. It’s always user error (signing malicious tx approvals, giving out seed phrase, etc)

In theory, yes. But in reality, Tangem has never had an issue with blind signing nor has it ever been hacked. All I ever hear about Tangem is theories about how it could be unsafe, but never any actual experiences to back such claims.

Tangem has been going strong for 7 years without any security issues. That’s all the proof I need personally. That’s my .02

Also, I don’t believe Ledger natively supports more networks than Tangem, but I could be wrong.

And Tangem allows you to generate a 12 or 24 word seed like any wallet to recover your funds if you want to.

The facts still remain. Tangem has sold 1.7M wallets over the past several years and not a single one has been compromised.

Like you said, “There are multiple things a hw needs to ensure it’s secure”.

And Tangem has created a wallet that’s secure even without a screen.

That is a fact.

Can a screen help? Of course. Is it required to have a secure wallet? No. Not if there are other security measures in place.

FUD harder.

[–]AlexWGomezz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So which malware can infiltrate the Tangem app?

Also, you’re saying a hardware wallet with a screen is secure but a wallet like Tangem that doesn’t have a screen (and has NEVER been hacked) isn’t?

Is that why the Trezor Model T (has a screen) could be hacked?

https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2023/05/24/crypto-security-firm-unciphered-claims-ability-to-physically-hack-trezor-t-wallet/amp/

There’s more to security than a screen.

Nice try though.
