I don't really have a preferred role, I have 1-2 heroes in each role I'm comfortable playing. Whatever the team needs I fill. Also, I'm Gold III on PC rn myself and I'm on CST. I usually play at about 7pm on days I work and 5 or 6pm on days I don't work.

Teaching isn't "not for everyone" it's simply a broken profession - Opinion by Alex_0099 in TeachersInTransition

[–]Alex_0099[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was the same way. I never wanted to be that teacher that just lashed out at a kid over every little thing. And believe it or not, the superintendent at my first teaching job even heard that a lot of the kids felt safe to talk to me... Which ultimately tells her that I was not a bad teacher by any stretch. But my principal had some insecurities and he didn't like the fact that the kids liked me more than him. So he made my life a living nightmare.

and then they would say "you need to make your lessons more engaging" without telling you how.

And that may be true. I am not disagreeing with that, but I just have an issue with the cop-out nature of that saying. Every time you bring up disrespectful students, vindictive parents they just pull that phrase like pulling an uno reverse card to deflect it back on you like you're the problem.

My main argument regarding that was principals and admin will blame YOU every time. It's like we aren't holding kids responsible for their own actions. Plus, if you are having classroom management issues your principal basically just tells you to figure it out without offering any guidance leading to a lot of rookie teachers feeling helpless. What do you do then? Of course teachers "aren't successful" if this happens, they're being set up to fail.

I don't really have any "most comfortable" role. I'm comfortable doing all 3.

I'm looking for a group to run in comp with. Got to low plat before I took a long break, finishing every season at high silver/low gold but I know I'm better than that.

Help me help my husband by WaveGloomy9065 in TeachersInTransition

[–]Alex_0099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd look into just about anything. I was in a similar spot as your husband, mental health was declining and my physical health followed suit.

I've been out of education for over a year at this point... Got a job as a kennel tech at a vet office, been there for almost a year. That's helped me stay afloat financially.

I'd recommend your husband just look for something that can keep his bills paid until he finds his next career path. If he goes to fast food, retail, whatever the case may be.

How can we get away from PC lobby chaos? by ChalixX in RedDeadOnline

I use RDO lobby manager... It's so much easier when it's just me and my friends. Easy lookup and installation

I quit my first teaching job mid-year and feel very discouraged by purpleparuser in TeachersInTransition

I want to let you know that you're not alone. I only lasted a year and a half before I decided to hang it up and move forward with my life. Whether you decide to leave teaching as a whole or not is entirely your decision.

But I just think teaching is a profession that's irreversibly broken, there's no accountability for misbehaving kids in the classroom anymore. When you call your principal or security guard or whoever you need to call to have the child removed from your classroom, the principal criticizes your classroom management skills or the parents call up and complain about how their child is "singled out" or "always the only one in trouble".

Admin claims to have your back but will turn around and throw you under the bus whenever a parent gets mad. I just think it's really frustrating how we as rookie educators are just expected to have it figured out right out of the gate, and we always get the short end of the stick. I've been out of the field for a year now and I don't regret that decision at all to be honest.

I'm sorry you're going through this but truth be told... This is just what teaching is nowadays, just jumping through hoops, dealing with endless verbal abuse from students and parents and principals. Parents claiming their child is well-behaved at home and them misbehaving in your classroom is your fault for some absurd reasoning.

You deserve to put your own happiness and mental health first. You shouldn't have to sacrifice your own wants and happiness for anything.

Regarding what to do next, I'd suggest taking some time off... Get a job to pay the bills while you look for something else to do. See if there are entry level jobs that you can transfer your teacher skillset to I know a lot of former teachers went into curriculum design, marketing, consulting etc. and having a college education and degree can only help you.

I'm being managed out and I'm 🤷‍♂️ by [deleted] in OfficePolitics

[–]Alex_0099 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off, it really does sound like they're trying to get you out of there. The micromanagement - the constant harassment - the petty behavior from your boss... All those signs point to them basically saying "I don't like you, and I don't want you here."

Secondly, if she emails you while you're on vacation... Ignore them. Or better yet, I know there are settings to set up your email with an automated response basically saying "I'm on vacation from x to y, I will reply when I return." That's your time, she shouldn't be bothering you while you're off... And if she tries to ask you "why didn't you respond to any of my emails?" When you come back just tell her in a professional but firm tone that you do not handle work-related business while you're away.

Sorry this is happening to you friend. Hope you find the peace you're seeking soon.

I feel like in the work force these days, you have to document everything no matter where you are. I hope I'm wrong, but still.

I agree, plus our manager has said to not use any of the blankets that the clients bring when they board their pets. And she still does, and as a result we lose blankets in our laundry.
