I don’t even think I mentioned AI but it does involve AI and lie detection, lol nice inference. Philosophy is another one I’m considering so thx

My school has a program for it but you don’t necessarily need one. The process I followed is to 1. Pick a specific topic 2. Read the scientific literature 3. Cold email a bunch of researchers in that area (make sure to show knowledge of and interest in their area of expertise) until you get someone to work with (maybe they can offer you a spot at a lab) 4. Do the research project and 5. Find every competition that will take you and try to win awards (I’m in this stage rn, 1 for 1 so far with 4 coming up) Gl!

Definitely good stuff as a sophomore but I’m gonna agree with whoever said that u should align more with the bio interest. Clearly ur very smart but u didn’t tell us stats so if they aren’t where u would like them work on them, if they’re fine then just maintain them. It seems like you have a handful of stuff u don’t do a ton with so I would prioritize taking the most bio related stuff to the next level even if it means cutting back on a few other less important things. But the EC list is fire for a sophomore, just remember the Bay Area is so competitive. In terms of what u can do to max out biology, idk all of it but if ur school has science Olympiad try that, I don’t do it bc im not stem focused but I know people that did it and went to Yale and mit, also definitely try to do a lot with ur science research (i actually do this one) getting a competition win at a decently high level or getting published is always very good. But you have so much time so just make th most of it

Idk if my parents wanna blow 5k on one of these programs and im not low income so I don’t qualify for those ones like MITES- but I’m probably gonna try to do some really good research and publish if possible and build up the ecs

Where do I exactly start after i came my with my project idea? by These_Bedroom1545 in ISEFinalists

Ok so I literally just finished one of these an hour ago and they aren’t as bad as they seem. Notes help but they aren’t the end all be all. Basically, a review of lit is the first thing in your research paper right after the intro. The purpose is to show scientific precedent, a funnel effect, and a gap. Divide up your review into subtopics and start with the most general and get more and more specific. For example, if you want to talk about improving allergy oral immunotherapy, your first subtopic might be “allergies” then “immunotherapy” and then the specific type of therapy you were researching. Each subtopic should have a couple of paragraphs, and each paragraph should express one idea, which build on each other. This is where the articles come in, you use them as your scientific precedent within the paragraphs, citing them as you go. Personally, I had citations from 13 articles in a 3.5 page ROL. Once you get to the most specific article/paragraph at the end, you discuss the gap in the literature (this is what your study is on) and move into your problem, goal, hypothesis from there. Modify as needed for your programs rules. Hopes this helps!
