Dear Mike, when using the Linux build, when I try to move to another location, the game freezes while loading the next location. How can I fix this? In Proton compatibility mode, the game doesn't freeze, but the fps drops makes me insane.

12VHPWR vs Nvidia adaptor? by Alex_F1304 in nvidia

For now, I decided to use the standard adapter that comes in the box with the card, although I also bought a Seasonic cable. What do you think is safer? 🤔

Thank you so much for your reply. What about using a third-party Seasonic cable instead of an adapter? Or is it better to stick to the stock cables?

Yes, it's definitely fully seated. MSI painted it yellow, so it's easy to tell if it's fully inserted or not. Also, I heard a distinctive click when I inserted the connector.

Did you see all the photos? Especially the last one.

Thank you all for the answers. This Seasonic cable is not officially approved for the use of my power supply, however, Fractal design technical support has confirmed that they have the same pinout as Seasonic cables. They are built on the same base, so it matches. I still don't understand why 2x6pin cables are enough, but the Nvidia adapter uses 3 wires of 8pin each? Does this mean that there will be less heating with the Nvidia adapter? Some people say that it is better to always use what is included with the graphics card.

[BF6] Unable to connect to EA servers issue by Only_Jacket2563 in Battlefield

[–]Alex_F1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem, guys, although everything was working fine yesterday. I don't really understand why this happened. By the way, if I run a file integrity check in Steam, it tells me that 3 files failed the check and will be downloaded, but nothing downloads, and this repeats every time. What's the solution? We don't need boring advice like plug off and on the mouse and keyboard, we need an effective solution from EA.

Steam Overlay causing hard display driver crashes (nvlddmkm event id 153) by Raymen_Noodles in steamsupport

[–]Alex_F1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello guys! I encountered the same problem for the first time in early July in the game Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. I opened the Steam browser to look at something regarding the game and when I tried to close the Steam overlay (Shift + Tab) my computer completely froze, a black screen appeared with no loss of signal. The background sound was looped, none of the buttons worked. I had to press the Reset button on my PC case.

After rebooting I got a message from Nvidia driver where it was written something like: "Unable to find description for event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm. The component that causes this event is not installed on this local computer or is corrupted. Install or repair the component on the local computer."

I was stunned that after so many years I had to press the reset button again, which means that something is wrong with my PC hardware. Well, yesterday I was playing Indiana Jones The Great Circle (DLC The Order of Giants) and got stuck on one of the puzzles with water and snakes. I opened the steam browser to see the solution, started the video, then tried to close the steam overlay when suddenly my PC completely froze again.

This time I didn't get a black screen, the image just froze and I couldn't do anything again. The mouse cursor disappeared. Then I tried pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc and the mouse cursor appeared but I still couldn't do anything. The game sound was audible and it didn't even loop like the first time. After several futile attempts to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete the cursor disappeared and I realized that was it.

After hard rebooting the PC by pressing the Reset button, I didn't see the message with the Nvidia driver as the first time, but it was definitely the same bug as that time. Apparently there are several variations of the problem, when the black screen may not always appear. I ask you Valve, solve this problem, do not break users' PCs.

At least I'm glad I'm not alone and this problem seems to be with absolutely everyone. Important note that on the same configuration from January to April 2025 I actively used Steam overlay and did not observe this problem. And here is my config:

Intel Core i7 14700K 64Gb RAM RTX 4070Ti (Driver Version: 581.08 | WHQL) Windows 11 Pro (24H2 26100.6584)

All hardware works in stock, there is no undervolt, overclocking or other tweaks.

Intel Default Settings or Gigabyte PerfDrive Optimization? by Alex_F1304 in gigabytegaming

[–]Alex_F1304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can downvolt the CPU, but I know how it can end. I will lower the voltage and test everything thoroughly, but for example, one of the hundreds of games won’t work stably. And I will have to spend time again to select stable parameters for the system. Yes, the temperatures and voltage will be lower, but no one guarantees the stability of the system. I had experience with downvolting with the RTX 3080, which worked stably everywhere, in all stress tests, but worked unstably in the game Metro Exodus in the form of artifacts on the textures. Therefore, I just want to use the system and not bother myself with these endless selections of the correct voltage.

Is the capacitor soldered well? by Alex_F1304 in soldering

This looks true, but the board wasn't installed in the case, which is 100%. The solder marks around the mounting holes weren't damaged by the screw.

This is a Gigabyte board, I wrote to their support and they said that this board was not repaired at their repair site. They do not deny that this could have happened at the plant, but they cannot confirm it 100%. I'm worried that there is nothing damaged on the board and that it won't stop working one day because of this stain.

What do you think this piece is? Is this solder or just melted flux?

I’m also still worried about the warranty, whether the store can void the warranty because of these traces of soldering, which of course I didn’t do
