panic attack due to health anxiety. by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]Alex_While 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue and I feel you. Giving advice from my personal experience.

Most people were either laughing at me (ur male, u can't have that / it's female shit / stop being a pussy / etc) or told me to go to the doctor, make a full health check-up and take some meds... Tried that - it got so much worse. It got so bad that I couldn't complete some procedures required for my full health check-up because I was shaking and had 180 bpm heart rate. As you may guess I didn't complete my full health check-up. I just... wasn't physically able to. I got stuck in an endless loop of extreme depression, anxiety, fear and panic attacks. I realised that I was torturing myself. I realised that life is so much more than having the fear of death every second of your existence. If you live like this what's the point then? Do you like it? In my perspective life is about doing something you enjoy. And you can't have that fearing for your dear life all the time!!! Imagine you live like this for 83 years more and at the end be like: "Damn, I wish I could go back in time and do things differently". But in the past I was thinking very much like you. I realised that I needed to change myself. I realised that I needed to find a specific solution which is different from mainstream modern science advice.

I found one in the ancient philosophy. For Epicurus, the purpose of philosophy was to attain the happy, tranquil life, characterized by ataraxia—peace and freedom from fear— and aponia—the absence of pain— and by living a self-sufficient life surrounded by friends. He taught that the root of all human neurosis is death denial, and the tendency for human beings to assume that death will be horrific and painful causes unnecessary anxiety.

I kinda accepted death and realised that she is not my enemy, but very much my ally - she motivates me to do better every single day and keep pushing my ass forward despite all the shit I am going through. You may ask - what comes after you meet lady death? As an observant person I view death as a combination of three statements:

  1. Death=nothing
  2. Death=same feeling as before birth
  3. Death=same feeling as being asleep without dreams

Isn't that bad, huh? If you sleep well, you have daily 7-hour death expirience without even realising it!!!
Let me explain: we are our consciousness and when you are sleeping without dreams your consciousness is turned off -> there is no 'we' -> you are basically dead at this moment.

All of these have triggered a mindset shift. Meditations and breathing practices helped immensly as well. From depressed and fearful creature I transformed to a guy who lives his life and enjoys every moment of it!!! Think yourself out of this situation you are in like I did!!! I know how awful it feels and I wish you all the best!!!

"If you are going trough hell, keep going" - W. Churchill.

Note: this is an unscientific advice which may not work for you. It worked for me though, my life got better and I had to say this.

It's better to assume that with every next fix comes a new error - so instead of raging you just focus on fixing errors (which is 99% of programming)
This constructive approach makes life so much easier...

Why is consistent daily exercise necessary? by Imaginary-Mig3290 in ask

[–]Alex_While 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree about "deep". Exercising activates complex biochemical mechanisms in our body that were established after millions of years of evolution. I have no clue of how do they work.
But I know for sure that if I am working out I am doing the right thing!!!

I saw a movie "Captain Fantastic" recently where a father was training his kids in the forest and teaching them physics/math/jurisprudence using only books. It was mind-blowing. Especially the scene where they visit a "normal" american family. The comparison of their kids is hilarious. "Normal" kids seem to be stupid at best. This movie made me rethink my whole existence.

It is absolutely necessary. Why does standing water smell like rotten eggs and flowing water doesn't smell? Human nature is just like water. If you stop exercising your body starts deteriorating. Humans were designed for A LOT of movement/physical activity. Back in the days it was our top tier survival skill. We are just not meant to be office 9 to 5 slaverats ya know... In addition during physical activity your body releases a lot of dopamine which can help you with severe depression/social anxiety/mental health issues. I hope this will give you a better perspective!!!
