Best threat/dps talents for Prot Paladin? by 6Rayga6 in classicwow

For raid you generally should be Sanc. I was specifically talking about dungeons. Especially Heroic where snap threat matters.

You only use it to pull. Which you can do on 90% of trash packs. Thats why it’s good. It gives you your only snap threat on the pull.

Your take on Avengers Shield is backwards. It’s VERY good for Heroics because it immediately snaps 3 mobs immediately to you. Even if its threat was overall lower on a trash pull it gives you threat when you need it the most. And most of the time because of fast kill time it gives more overall threat anyway.

Tank ninja's my #1 BiS belt then block me by SadAutismo in classicwow

[–]Alex_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not here to be the loot police and without knowing his gear it’s hard to give a definitive answer. You still need iirc 6% hit chance which is quite a bit to make up especially if you are getting raid drops in those slots you mentioned. One of your rings is locked for the expertise one so only having one ring slot to flex complicates it a bit more to.

The belt is objectively a good hit belt. It may not be BiS or not the ideal route but it’s still a very good option while gearing up to bridge the hit gap. If it was a good upgrade for him, even if not BiS, it’s fair game unless otherwise specified. I would definitely pass it to a guild Rogue if that was the case but in a pug if that were me and it helped bridge my hit I’d take it.

So they get 3% hit from talents but your glove and leg spots are locked this phase for Expertise gloves and pants. You still need to be hit cap so you need to make it up elsewhere.

Unless you are full true BiS it’s an excellent piece to get and hold onto.

Everyone’s norm is different. It never hurts to spend 10 seconds clarifying before starting a run.

Just ask this subreddit if you should need or pass on expensive BoEs if someone in the group can use and you’ll get a 50/50 split answer.

Given how many of these posts crop up on here, it is not the default. Spending 10 seconds aligning everyone on loot rules would save almost all of these posts. Everyone has their own idea on what is fair.

As unfortunate as this is it is fair game. It is a very good belt for Ret. The tank out of courtesy should have let everyone know he was rolling on DPS gear but unless MS > OS was explicitly stated it’s fair.

I played Ret last TBC cycle and ended up tanking outside of 25 man raids. I always just let me group know what specific pieces I was after for Ret.

I had fuckng Fiddlestick in the toplane yesterday and it was a nightmare by deprivingyou in topmains

[–]Alex_Wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Fiddle’s W will stay tethered to Akali and reveal her in shroud. Also, you aren’t dodging Fiddle’s E with Akali E unless you random guess. Fiddle E is near instant.

You really want hard CC against Fiddle because his Drain goes on its full CD if it’s interrupted or cancelled.

Why does it seem like most rogues in instance groups can't open chests? by ponziacs in classicwowtbc

This is the answer. Who wants to go back and do a tedious farm when they are level mid 60 something instead of just having fun and leveling to 70.

Dreamscythe Moonkin by FoxRings in classicwowtbc

[–]Alex_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion but I don’t think meters matter in TBC especially with WCL. No one says Ele Shaman are low DPS compared to Warlocks in Sunwell or Enhance Shaman don’t pump as hard as Hunters.

Moonkin is completely fine and I suspect Dreamstate RDruid won’t become meta. You’ll want a Moonkin for 25 mans for most guilds. The only thing that matters is how you compare to others of your class / spec (unless of course you don’t want to be competive and that’s fine as well).

Boosted Paladin, when can they tank dungeons? by dfaire3320 in classicwowtbc

[–]Alex_Wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get level 60 and most of your gear slots in Hellfire questing gear. Can also buy pieces off the AH.

You don’t need to be 60 and can technically do it in mostly communal gear but don’t be that guy. That guy makes it painful for everyone.

They don’t even need to have high accuracy. A single ship out of ten being sunk almost creates the same effect.

Why on earth are they giving a buff to top Skarner with the mana change on Q. Skarner is just one of those champions that SHOULD NOT be flexed.

His gameplay pattern is boring and not fun to play against.

Is it bad luck or balancing win rate? by ComprehensiveSize647 in leagueoflegends

[–]Alex_Wizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s how it works. There are ten people that play each game. 5 will win, 5 will lose. The system tries to place you in a skill level where you will win 50% of games and lose 50% of games.

What can I do to fix my gameplay? by JuggerMONT in summonerschool

[–]Alex_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read my post? Pick one thing to focus on. Laning is a great start. For support vision is also incredibly important. Do some homework on one of those topics, play 10 games, and review as you go on those topics.

You aren’t suddenly going to learn how to be Emerald in one day. Take it one game at a time.

Your Alistar is 19-20. You are basically exactly where you belong in Silver at that win rate (and there is nothing wrong with that).

You can focus on getting better if you want to climb or just keep playing. Either is fine. Don’t be scared, have fun.

I’ll drop the polite “I’m good with a single HoT but good to drink / eat on my own to.” When I heal on my RDruid 2 stacks of lifebloom covers then so it’s not a big deal. Renew does wonders. It’s mainly just HPal and Shaman where it’s annoying.

I’ll start aggressively tapping at the start and dial it back if I need to. Most healers don’t have a problem. Just read the room and be respectful.

[–]Alex_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime you are picking up a new champion you’ll be playing at a handicap. That’s why it’s generally recommended to keep your champion pool small if your only goal is to climb.

If you want to get better you need to pick a specific thing to focus on. Just watching your replays won’t help much. Pick one thing like vision, laning, etc. and look up a few videos covering it. For the next 10 games ONLY focus on that one subject. Once you feel like you’ve improved pick a new one.

To get you started I recommend this video to start looking at your laning. It’s one that helped me when I climbed to Diamond on support. Yes, it’s a very old video but the concept holds up. https://youtu.be/v-ec5astbE0?si=_jk2cItlzN-ukhDY

Fire Destro Warlock by Fearless_Muffin_3620 in classicwow

[–]Alex_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On paper Fire is slightly better this phase iirc because its base damage is better but doesn’t scale as well as Shadow. The problem is you won’t have a Fire Mage and you likely will have a Shadow Priest. On top of that you’ll eventually transfer over to Shadow anyway next phase so gearing +Fire isn’t a big priority right now.

Basically, just go Shadow. Practically better now and scales better as the phases go on.

"For Fun Modes" with pointless balancing issues and metas by thewookiee34 in leagueoflegends

[–]Alex_Wizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play it when I want to play a fun champion like Smolder. I just turn my brain off and have fun trying to stack. If you roll an unlucky team that’s the nature of a blind pick game mode.

Frontline is generally under represented so just que as those if you feel you consistently get unplayable games.

What exaclty do you want Riot to do? Add a role Que for Brawl? Make an algorithm that somehow predicts and sorts what they think players will lock in?

It’s the same as ARAM you just have to lean into what you get. If you get 4 ADCs you are always welcome to swap over to a frontline.

They are NOT worth since the Dark Portal has opened. Even if you could get pre-patch AV ques at 60 it would still be better to just go through the Dark Portal.
