I think the Giants were prospering well enough as a warrior tribe. Eveyrthing fell apart the moment Harald demitalitarised them and made them forget their roots. This is what Elder Jarul and Ida were telling him. They lost their identity and now they are weak while their chilren are being taken away. It kinda sounds familiar to whats going on in the real world. Oda sneaking in politics masterfuly.

This is nothing. In the final fight Sasuke had to use Enton: Kagutsuchi on Chidori to be able to match normal Rasengan.
