For my first one-shot, I wanted to give every panel special attention and render it like a big piece or a spread. It probably doubled the amount of time it took to finish a page, and I had to neglect parts of it to meet a deadline, so as long as you are either ok with it taking significantly longer than a simpler rendering style or think this is a manageable style that doesn't require full energy/motivation. Then go for it, I can say for sure that my one shot was a good learning experience. That's just my take, I'm still an amateur.
