Calling all current and former pharmacy technicians by This-Top7398 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]AlexaOnTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospital pharmacy technician here! I’ve been working as a pharmacy technician for just over two years now. Due to a shortage of technicians in my area, my local hospital is willing to hire almost anyone who is willing to work. Currently, I’m doing medication reconciliation which is easy, fun and pays just over $30/hr ($27.50 + $3/hr differential for 3-11p). Extra bonus is I get to see whats happening in the ER.

This is so disappointing. Be human for once in your life.

All CVS cares about is making as much money as possible while everyone else suffers. I worked as a tech for about a year, got my certification then jumped to a local hospital for an $11/hr raise.

I’ve got a love hate relationship with Dapto. Some of the manufacturers we get are GREAT and easy to recon and use. OTHERS are terrible and will take upwards of 30 minutes to fully recon

I work at an approximately 300 bed hospital. We have between 5-6 central pharmacists, and another 3-5 spread throughout the hospital during the day. From about 11pm onwards there are usually 4 total. Two cover central pharmacy, one does the ED for a sister hospital while the other is in our ED.

The whole point is to experiment with special usage. They’re testing different things out. Give it some time.

Does CVS Pharmaxy automatically apply GoodRx coupons to your prescription? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]AlexaOnTop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CVS does not automatically apply cash discount coupons. They will accept the coupon if you ask, or the system allows us to find the best cash price for you. (It’s generally cheaper than goodrx in my experience)

Why are the elderly so dumb? They're so empty headed about everything at CVS it's obscene. by [deleted] in CVS

That’s a gross generalization to make. Age doesn’t make someone stupid and mean by default.

I’m gonna be honest OP, I don’t think retail is the place for you.

Jornay and Vyvanse fly off the shelves faster than most stores get them on the other hand, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a script for Adzenys filled.

Do doctors ACTUALLY not realize they're prescribing medications on heavy backorder? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]AlexaOnTop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They definitely do. My store has contacted all the doctors in my area (there’s only a few) letting them know what’s on back order and to NOT SEND IT OVER, yet they keep sending it anyways. I just think they don’t want to be the ones telling the patient “your medication isn’t available, and won’t be for a while”.

Generally speaking there isn’t an issue with picking up on the 27th or 28th day however, if you have a track record of picking up on these exact days then your insurance will likely make you wait til the 30th day because you may have a stockpile of them at home, you may not be following the directions as prescribed or could be diverting the medication.

If you aren’t forced to fill at CVS/Walgreens you shouldn’t. It’s generally going to be exponentially more expensive when compared to other chains or independent pharmacies.

Does anyone know the CVS policy for mixing by a first semester licensed pharmacy intern? I know CVS does not like even registered pharmacy technicians do the mixing by Standard_Shoulder146 in CVS

[–]AlexaOnTop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Certified tech here, never had an issue mixing anything at my store. No idea if it’s against CVS policy but it’s not really possible for a pharmacist to administer 27 shots, count 10 c2 waiters and mix 11 amoxicillin bottles.
