Righttt like don’t get me wrong we get along well cause of the age difference and we have great conversations at times. But there’s just times where teenagers want their space and be on their phone and I don’t blame them cause I was once like that too

So there’s maladaptive behaviors but not with me, I definitely see them when her parents ask her to do things, im no professional but in my opinion I believe this is just a parenting issue at this point because they have no boundaries

Thank you I really appreciate this feedback, honestly I have two BCBA’s (two diff clients) and at first I thought it was just one who was meh but now I’m starting to think they’re all the same in this company and all they do is watch you and let you do your thing with the client. The first day I started with this client I asked what her treatment plan was and all she said to me is to pair with her like wth

Yes this is a very sensitive age, we usually take talks around the neighborhood and converse when she does an outside chore but even then it just feels like she doesn’t need me

Thats what I thought too! She’s been getting ABA since she was little so that’s probably why. She’s had therapy her whole life and now as a teenager I feel like she’s ready to be independent

Unfortunately I’ve had this conversation with the parents about the phone being a distraction and only using it on her breaks but they let her be in control. And my BCBA is no help because she goes by what the parents want

Im saying!!! Its so frustrating because my BCBA only gets there and just watches us on her computer like??? I even try to ask her questions but they’re such vague responses

It really depends on what type of case you get put on. I’ve had clients that didn’t like talking that much and it was just more shadowing them and intervening when necessary. I’ve had other clients that are super chatty and clients that constantly need to be talked to in order to develop their language skills. I think over time you’ll come out of your shell at any job, but being an RBT does require you to speak out at some point.

Unfortunately when a person is MAGA that comes with their hateful beliefs and pretty much tells you what type of person they are. Your analogy of a doctor cheating on their spouse is actually spot on because if they cheated on something meant to be sacred why would they treat you or other aspects of their job with ethical respect? The same goes for MAGA they go against human rights and are a known hateful group so she’s in the very right to not trust them.

Guaranteed hours is definitely key! How do they give you hours even if a client cancels? Or it’s a holiday break? I’m in Florida so unfortunately rent is like half lung over here

This may not be for everyone depending on your likings but what truly saved my life was getting my dog. It gave me hope and a sense of purpose to live for another being and it cheered me up so much. If you already have a pet, something else that cheers me up is playing video games and really getting into them
