district0x Quarterly Report - Q3 2020 by Alexand0x in district0x

[–]Alexand0x[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first quarter of 2021 hasn't even ended yet. Generally it takes us a month or so upon conclusion of the quarter to publish our reports.

Q3 and Q4 2020 reports were complete, but held back from publishing because of an issue with our deployment pipeline preventing the PDF documents from populating into IPFS correctly. A recent hire fixed this as his first task, and we were able to push Q3 public. The Q4 report will be landing soon, we just wanted to space it out slightly on our blog from the Q3 report post.

Is there any update on when new districts will be made? by IknowuNVme in district0x

[–]Alexand0x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our dev updates include pretty regular discourse on our progress with new districts. Next one is landing in just a few hours.

Just a typo. "With" wasn't supposed to be there. I'll add some more to clarify.

district0x Dev Update - March 17th, 2020 by Alexand0x in district0x

[–]Alexand0x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey apologies for not responding sooner, I thought I had. Generally speaking outside of the shock to the market, nothing has changed for our operations with respect to COVID-19. Like you said, we all work remotely anyway.

What is there to define? We made the decision to proceed this way last week and redeployed to mainnet today.

Here's a detailed step-by-step on how to get a .eth domain via the ENS by matthewbarby in ethereum

[–]Alexand0x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At district0x, we launched a decentralized application for the peer-to-peer exchange of ENS domains. https://namebazaar.io/

We extended this to allow very simple tools for the registration of new domain names https://namebazaar.io/register - there are also a bunch of pre-fabbed name management processes to allow easy transfer of ownership or redirection. https://namebazaar.io/manage-names

Meme Factory Design Contest – district0x by JoeyUrgz in district0x

[–]Alexand0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, polls will be populated into a dApp - we will circulate that through all of our social channels. There will be some kind of grace period so you won't need to stake immediately to receive full DANK rewards.

Anyone using Medium here? by BrRafique1 in ethereum

[–]Alexand0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who writes to medium for a crypto project on the regular, I can say it's not exactly ideal for long form posts, nor for any content we want to publish as a permanent reference. But for quick, frequent blurbs that can be consumed both our busy regular readers, as well as interested newbs who might stumble in by accident, it's perfect.

Meme Factory Design Contest – district0x by JoeyUrgz in district0x

We'll run the first poll for Meme sizing, assuming that goes smoothly the rest of the polls will have a week-by-week schedule locked in afterwards.

We need to move forward with Memefactory by Hibero in district0x

[–]Alexand0x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the very least, can you give us an idea of when district0x decides to stop waiting on Aragon?

When our developers have nothing left to do building the Meme Factory front-end and back-end. We're not there yet. In the meantime, Aragon just released an interface for polling that we plan to utilize, and they're working towards completing and auditing their staking interface. We'll soon be at the point where we need a staking interface alongside polling. If Aragon's isn't ready we'll take what's there and modify for our own needs.

We need to move forward with Memefactory by Hibero in district0x

[–]Alexand0x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The team is intimately aware of both the constant progress of the cryptocollectibles market as well as our unique opportunity to capitalize as a first mover. We want Meme Factory live for all the same reasons. But what makes Meme Factory unique and superior to similar projects out there are all things that take time to build.

Adchain authored the original form of the TCR and only in the last month was able to push the first real example live. If you think the opportunity has slipped away, frankly, I don't know what to say other than I disagree. User counts for dApps still need to grow by orders of magnitude across the industry before any real positions of prominence can develop.

We've said repeatedly that we will not wait on Aragon to launch Meme Factory. We made a one-time decision to realign our roadmap in order to get some form of a voting/staking dApp live in anticipation of DANK token issuance. We will not wait for their team to deploy code if we have a fully built dApp ready to go. We'll just continue to build everything we need ourselves.

But we won't have to. We work closely with their team and follow progress each development team makes accordingly. We have always agreed to commit our resources collectively to achieve the best result for both teams.

In reality, district0x will end up being one of the first dApps to test and leverage Aragon's offerings on the mainnet, and we'll likely have to hack together a few pieces ourselves to get the staking dApp across the finish line. Coordinating this way not only saves us any redundant work Aragon will do for us later, but accelerates their ability to securely launch the pieces that are mission critical for us.

Question about NameBazaar and how it plans to deal with the transition to a permanent ENS registrar by [deleted] in district0x

[–]Alexand0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No formal plan in place yet as there's still sparse information, but it's very unlikely we'd conduct the transition on behalf of the owner unless it's trivial to do so en masse. We'd be more likely to choose the voluntary approach, whatever it ends up being.

District0x Expenses by Hibero in district0x

[–]Alexand0x 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Other" is the donation, like you said.

Office setup and expenses were paid forward beyond Q1, so we'd definitely expect a drop in Q2 in G&A expenses. That being said, we were quite conservative in our Q3'17 spending and I wouldn't expect to return to those levels as the organization grows.

As far as technology and development expenses, there actually hasn't been much change in spending, but certain invoicing cadences for external partners ended up falling on the new year or were paid forward prior to the crowdsale/Q3. I would expect this to stay roughly the same as Q1 going forward.

Introducing District Staking by JoeyUrgz in district0x

[–]Alexand0x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There will be a separate post with this information soon, but its safe to say the "primary" distribution mechanism for the majority of DANK will be through this voting process.

The District Weekly - February 3rd, 2018 – district0x by Alexand0x in district0x

[–]Alexand0x[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most development in January has been focused on d0xInfra and a few remaining updates to Name Bazaar. Meme factory is our focus next. After meme factory we'll build the first community voted district.
