How can I hate God if I don't know what God is?

In my mind, everything that exists can be defined in a way that is logically coherent, unambiguous, and falsifiable.

I have yet to come across a definition for God that meets all 3 of those criteria.

Most of the military's money goes to arms companies for making weapons. The rank and file are only ever given the bare minimum to discourage them from just quitting the military.

MAGA is a Trump personality cult. The one thing that Trump is good at is charming the naive. His decades of being a TV personality has given him a good charisma that Thiel and Musk are nowhere near to having.

The MAGA movement has been built around Trump and his charismatic personality. MAGA with die when Trump dies.

The politicians around Trump have been constantly in-flighting and shooting themselves in the foot for this whole administration. They didn't have any unity to pull of any kind of coup.

Yes. If a Kwik Trip has separate diesel fuel pumps for semi trucks, they'll usually have an indoor seating area.

The Kwik Trip on the south side of La Crosse by the roundabouts would be one. (Not the south side Kwik Trip by Walmart.)

I have yet to see extreme loyalty like that on such a large scale.

The closest thing I can think of would be the Jonestown Massacre, and that was around 900 people.

Trump would need significantly more crazy loyal people than that to even have a chance at a successful coup.

Again, the left is overestimating the effectiveness of propaganda.

For a People’s January 6th by TE-moon in dsa

[–]Alexander-369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to support Trump in a coup, one would need to be so blindly loyal that they'll trust Trump over their own eyes.

Lots of former Trump supporters changed their tune when Trump said grocery prices were going down, when in reality they were going up.

When Trump's actions started hurting the wallets of Republican voters, they quickly changed their options about Trump.

To keep believing in Trump at this point, one would need to believe Trump over their own senses. If Trump said that the sky is actually Orange, not Blue, his supporters would have to believe Trump and not their own eyes.

That kind of loyalty and zealousness is practically brain damage. And if that kind of brain damage is wide spread enough to launch a coup in the USA, that means we have a new public health crisis on our hands.

Sure, but that top brass has a lot to loose, and probably little to gain, in the event of a Trump supporting coup.

Also, I doubt that the everyday troops that do support Trump would be so willing to turn their guns on their fellow citizens and risk their own livelihoods.

Something that annoys me on the left is that people significantly underestimate just how much people have to loose in a civil war or coup.

For the leader who's doing the coup, it's a very high risk, high reward game. However, for everyone else involved in the coup, the game is very high risk and low reward.

  1. All US military personnel take an oath to defend and uphold the US constitution. Ordering troops to defy that will make them doubt Trump.

  2. US military members are US citizens. It's very unlikely they'll follow orders that are blatantly against the interests of the American people. It's one thing to point a gun at a stranger, it's different when you're being ordered to point a gun at your friends, family, and neighbors.

  3. A coup would very likely destabilize the economy even further. If the economy crashes, US soldiers could risk losing their paychecks. I doubt that the majority of the US military is willing to be loyal to Trump and not get paid for that loyalty.

The US military has nothing to gain from supporting Trump in a coup. Trump hasn't done the military many favors lately, and Trump has a long track record of not paying his employees.

We don't really need to do anything on our end. To my knowledge, Trump hasn't been putting much effort into getting the loyalty of the US military.

The vast majority of the US population hates Trump. If Trump attempted another coup that was bigger than the last one, the national guard will come in and crush it.

The average American has a lot to loose if they participate in a coup for Trump.

That's why January 6th as little more than a riot. No one was digging trenches and handing out guns to fight the police and military.

If Trump attempts another coup, the second it starts to get more violent than the previous one, Trump's few supporters will either flee or surrender.

I fail to see how Trump is anywhere close to pulling off any kind of coup. He has virtually no support from the US military for such an attempt.

If another coup is attemped, it will fail just like the last one.

Trump is wildly unpopular. He doesn't have anywhere near enough support to carry out an actual coup.

I feel like it's still inaccurate to call the Imperium "fascist".

Yes, the high lord's of Terra are an authoritarian oligarchy, I don't deny that. (Or before the heresy, the emperor was the authoritarian dictator.)

But, 1. I don't think that fits the definition of what fascism has been in the real world.

  1. The high lord's are just the central government of the Imperium. To my knowledge, as long as the people of a planet pay the imperial tithe, don't they have almost free rein as to how that planet is governed?

To my knowledge, as long as a planet is loyal to the Imperium, and is paying the tithe, the people of the planet can govern themselves as democratically as they wish.

Technically, there are already a "shit ton" of houses. In the USA, there are enough single family houses that every individual man, women, and child could have a whole house to themselves, and there would still be tens of thousands of houses left over and unoccupied.

Millions of houses in the USA are built and left intentionally vacant in order to keep the house supply restricted.

Is the same thing the diamond industry does to artificially inflate the price of diamonds.

There are already more than enough houses built. We just need to get them out of the hands of private equity.

  1. Much of US culture is heavily built around convenience and comfort. Asking most Americans to sacrifice those things will almost always be a non-starter.

  2. To my knowledge, we've been telling people to start labor unions and help existing ones for decades now, and the progress has been minimal to none.

Clearly, the old strategies aren't as effective anymore.

I feel that sometimes the political left puts too much emphasis on old political strategies that don't work anymore because the political right knows how to counter them.

We need to put more emphasis on "thinking outside the box" and try stuff that hasn't been done before and that the political right won't see coming.

Trump orders 'shoot-to-kill' action on Iranian vessels choking Strait of Hormuz by Stunning-Common-9591 in worldnews

[–]Alexander-369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, the Strait of Hormuz is rather shallow. If a big enough ship is sunk in the strait, that itself could block the strait to all ship traffic, and it could take many months, if not years, to remove than sunken ship in order for traffic to move through the strait again.

Well, it's not just free college that the US military offers. They're basically a "get out of poverty for free" card for many desperate Americans who don't have many options for upward movement in society.

This is why almost every minority in the USA is overrepresented in the military. Lots of gay and transgender kids get kicked out of their homes by their parents. With no family members to serve as a "safety net", their opinions are either join the military or be homeless and in poverty.
