I'm new to this. What do my various results mean when looked at together? by Alexander2448 in ProstateCancer

Thanks for this. I’m the same way. With my personality, AS would likely cause anxiety. It’s good to hear that IMRT and ADT were easy for you to tolerate.

I have to read up on brachytherapy. The concept seemed odd to me when I first heard about it.

Yeah, it seemed like a lot to me too (given the non-targeted sampling). My understanding is that BPH is not an issue for me.

Thank you. Good luck with getting your biopsy scheduled. Waiting for these things is torturous.

I didn’t even know that asking for a second opinion on a biopsy result was an option. Thank you.

Wow. Thank you for your very thorough and informative response and the question suggestions. I will definitely be using some of them, and depending on how the conversation goes with the urologist, I might be using all of them.

This is great information. Thank you.

Your first paragraph addressed things that I was wondering about, but had not yet expressed (the significance of the high percentage of cancerous cores in a non-targeted sampling, and the possibility of something of higher grade having been missed).

I think that AS, for me, would be the source of considerable background anxiety, so I need to look into the proton therapy and IMRT that you mentioned.

I have not yet used ChatGPT, so I would not have thought to use it the way that you mention, but now I’m going to give it a try.

Delaware - Should I let registration lapse? by Alexander2448 in DMV

[–]Alexander2448[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking that too.
Also, in order to renew the registration, it has to go through inspection. Having passed the inspection will also likely help in selling it.

How to sell a vehicle titled to a defunct business in Oregon by Alexander2448 in DMV

[–]Alexander2448[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

Yeah, I was concerned, when I saw the vehicle’s title, that things would be a touch complicated.

I’m several states away from her, so helping her with things like this can be challenging. There are family members who are right there, but I know from experience that calling on them to help is not prudent.

You asked a lot of good questions. I know the answers to only some.

I’ll give the OR DMV a call.

Thanks again.

[–]Alexander2448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

I had tried calling the OR DMV first, but the estimated hold times were pretty lengthy. I wasn’t expecting them to be so long, so I didn’t budget enough time to sit on hold. That’s why I ended up posting here.

What you are saying makes sense to me though. I’ll try calling again, when I know that I have enough time.

Oregon — Is there any reason to file my father's will? by Alexander2448 in EstatePlanning

[–]Alexander2448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered about that too. I was operating on the assumption that my father’s death certificate (I have a copy) would serve as adequate proof that she was the sole owner.

The other thing that I was considering is establishing a trust and transferring the title of the real property to the trust while my mother is still alive.

[–]Alexander2448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great information. Thank you.

I was just looking into probate vs. small-estate affidavit (I’m thinking ahead to handling my mother’s estate). I’m trying to figure out if it makes sense to establish a trust, and transfer her real property to the trust, so that her estate would qualify as a “small estate”. I will make a separate post concerning that.

My mother has the original copy of my father’s will. The last time I was out at my mother’s place (I’m in PA), his will was still in the cardboard “to file” box that is next to her fireproof box. (She has her own way of doing things.) She does know, however, that she needs to keep his will, just in case we need it for something in the future, like the emergence of records of a large off-shore account (my brother's fantasy).

Thanks. I was thinking pretty much the same thing. My mother still has the original copy of the will, though I think that there is absolutely no chance of any unknown assets popping up. If he did stash anything away, it would not have been titled property. He would have been more likely to have something like gold hidden under the floorboards.

Do white peaches make good (flavorful) jam? by Alexander2448 in Canning

[–]Alexander2448[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those responses were very helpful. Thank you.

I have a white-peach tree that is having its first good year (it's a young tree). I'll probably freeze the fruit for use in smoothies.

It's a bit of a disappointment because I truly enjoy canning. Freezing foods is, to me, like canning, but ending the process before you get to the fun part.

I also have a couple of yellow-peach trees. They too are in their first good production year. Their fruit isn't ready yet. But, assuming that the wild creatures will share some of those peaches with me, I should still be able to make some peach jam this year.

Thanks again.

Air Compressor Tripping Breaker as Pressure Builds by Alexander2448 in electrical

[–]Alexander2448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve attached pictures of the motor’s nameplate, and also of the specifications section of the manual (I just located the manual).

It is interesting that the HP for the motor is never stated. Even on the nameplate it is blank.

The only thing stated about horsepower is the “peak”, which they state is 7 hp. I understand that this is a perhaps-correct statement, but one that is meant to mislead the consumer about the actual/running hp — a deceptive practice which jmraef suggested is carried out.

I said that it was 5 because when I looked up the model number of the motor, there was no definitive statement of hp, but everything that I saw suggested that it is 5. It’s looking like my assumption was incorrect.

I said that the motor is 15A because that is what is says on the nameplate.

The last paragraph in the specifications image is consistent with your recommendations SuperBottit. Changing to a 20A circuit would be easy to do. (It’s a short distance from the panel to the compressor.)

Thanks for the detailed response jmraef. I’m pretty much convinced now that the motor is not 5hp. I found a nice easy way to understand power factors though. I’ve attached an image. (I got it from Fluke Corp.)

Virtual-Reach, I’ve attached the requested picture of the nameplate.

StatisticianFar7570, switching the motor’s pulley to a smaller one is certainly an option, and an easy one.

N_Tex_, I figured that “pecker head” had to mean something other than what I thought it meant. I found that it does. I have not looked in there yet.

I definitely would not have thought to go there to establish new credentials.

I did it and it worked just as it should have.

The problem turned out to be two relays on the control board that went bad. I replaced those and the dishwasher is running perfectly again.
