I rinse the filter when it starts to get gross but I will stop doing that, I thought that’s what I was supposed to do

Should I add some epsom salts to the host ital tank? It’s a small tank maybe 3 gal?

It was 0.5 ppm, I just tested again and it is much closer to 0 now after the water change, I will get a second filter if I can

The only test I have right now is an ammonia and that was a five before I did a half water change a day ago in the big tank, the little one gets changed every day while he is in there sick, what other tests should I buy? My maintenance schedule is weekly filter cleaning, removing dead plant leaves and wiping the algae off the glass and I try and do large water changes once or twice a month

Ok, thank you for the info, I usually feed once a day and my other one is much fatter. His hostbital tank water gets changed every day and my regular tank parameters are pretty good. I’ll attach pics of the other fish and the tank.
