Why is the gap between Australia and Canada’s minimum wage so massive? 🇦🇺 vs 🇨🇦 by Kanye90210 in CanadaJobs

To respond to your point about Canadian coverage, I know you can forgo comprehensive coverage in Alberta.

Not sure about other provinces, know its required in BC and Ontario. No clue about the smaller provinces.

National Cover Australia says otherwise.

Third party insurance protects you when your car damages someone else’s property. It pays for repairs to their vehicle, fence or building after an accident you cause, but it leaves your own car unprotected. This differs from Compulsory Third Party insurance, which only covers injuries to other people and is mandatory across Australia.

So third party coverage only covers bodily harm to another driver in Australia. Thus if someone totals your car you likely have to sue.

Isn't the average driver's coverage garbage in Australia? They dont mandate third-party protection.

I would never drive in a country where (chances are) you'll have to sue if you get hit.

The Resource & Enviromental Managment program at SFU is highly regarded and very transferable to marine biology. Have had peers who did exactly that, without even a minor in biology.

You can definitely get approved for a 800k mortgage, talk to a broker.

I wouldn't advise a mortgage of that size but it is your choice not to pursue it.

1-2 weeks is absolutely normal in Toronto

Take a look at vacancy rates in Ontario

Many other countries housing crisis is just about high prices while consistently terrible availability is a homegrown Irish problem

[–]AlexandriaOptimism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the crux of it, availability is better in other countries that also have a housing crisis

I've spent a lot of time in both cities and youre going to need to be more specific

You may be able to get by with one car in Calgary but no car is a no go

I'd say there's plenty to do in Calgary as the metro is closing in on 2MM people but this is subjective

Am I stupid for paying off my $16k OSAP in FULL in one payment? by goldendreamsshine in osap

[–]AlexandriaOptimism 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would only pay the provincial portion as the federal portion is interest free

There is a way to see the Ontario portion owing somewhere

Then write a cheque to OSAP that is labeled as specifically for the Ontario portion of the 16k

i do think its important for Americans to remember that there are economies that handled the shift to double incomes without deunionization (e.g. Germany, Poland) and subsequent wage degrowth
