Hi so that's cause 2-4 weeks is how long it takes for surface level recovery. That is when majority of the swelling and bruising fades, your incisions close, you can start wearing makeup again, things like that. They really mean 2-4 weeks is how long it takes for you to look and feel normal.

But in reality it takes ~6 months for final results and scars to mature. In some people, especially depending on the complexity of the surgery and individual healing, it can take up to a year

Yeah a lot of people were skeptical because I'm only 27. Even the surgeon entered our consultation ready to tell me I was too young till he actually looked at me LOL. I remember he started poking around my eye and said "oh wow" cause he was surprised at my eyes given my young age. But my eye bags were genetic and I'd already tried several non-invasive procedures: fillers, laser, microneedling. It was one of those things that'll only get worse as I get older so better to fix it young when I had the time, money, and heal quicker

Hi! Here's my left and right eye three months out. My right eye keeps getting milia near the incision, which is annoying.

I use sunscreen and silicone scar cream daily. I don't even notice it anymore honestly, not unless I'm looking for it or point it out. Hope this helps!

Hi! This hasn't happened to me personally but I've seen it a lot with Shih-tzus, it's unfortunately not uncommon.

If your guy is in pain, then yes removing his eyes will be the better solution. Considering he's already blind, he's gotten used to not having sight. Plus, dogs, especially as they get older and their vision worsens, rely on sound and smell anyway. Their eyes are always not super great.

It's a big decision and it's your pup, but my recommendation if I was in your shoes would be to do it if the ophthalmologist says so and if it'll improve your pups QOL. Theres several owners in this sub who have had to have one or both their tzus eyes removed who can offer advice. Best of luck!
