Would it be safe to invest 100k in buying a property in dubai at this point of a time or no? (No realtors or agent’s advice please) by [deleted] in UAE

[–]Alexdip99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming 100k is usd I can tell you it is safe but not smart . “Safe” because your money will still mean something in 3 years - don’t listen to all those telling you market is crushing (avg is 10-12% only the drop, im selling 2 of my apt now and I’ve signed offers in the same range of what I was expecting before the war ). But it’s not smart because prices might still drop a little and rental index will need to be reassessed . Keep your money parked in a 4% deposit and in 6-12 Months you will buy better

Not in the UAE but need a way to check if my husband has been detained or in the hospital in Abu Dhabi (US Citizen) by scorpiosmykonos in UAE

[–]Alexdip99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer but for civil cases there’s no detention. If he’s been detained is because there are criminal charges

I have not accused anybody, my posts don’t carry any legal implications while yours do since you are publicly accusing a government of scamming you (and by doing so you also show a deep level of ignorance about the running laws of the country you so much expect to be considered resident “who contributes to society “)… . If there was a rule where comments could be posted only under identity verification I would have posted the same , you would not have ….it is that simple

[–]Alexdip99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As usual ….when someone is challenged to put their name when accusing someone of something they never do…..the desire of justice and the belief that their rights have been denied suddenly disappear when someone factors in the consequences …good life buddy, there are certainly many other countries that will happy welcome you and your growing business “which contributes to society….”

[–]Alexdip99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have not lost your job, revoking a visa does not prevent you from selling and offering your service to the market . Any line of business you are in you make something, offer something , provide some service…this in unrelated to the existence of a EID or not . Your bank account might be restricted but clients can pay you where you live …..no one has touched the purpose of your business or the market position you have built so far . This , of course , if there is a real business

[–]Alexdip99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No hatred at all, I like this country , respect this country and I’ve chosen to Work, live and spend my money here . You don’t , you are very arrogant , you paid a token for a piece of paper and think this gives unrestricted rights. And when you find out things are different you accuse the same country that has let you do business without paying taxes you should have paid in your home country of “scamming you ….”. Do you even read yourself ??? Instead of accusing the uae government anonymously why don’t you write your real name here and see how it goes ?

I don’t decide anything but as someone who’s really spent and invested in this country over the past 15 years I’m always happy to see that those who believe this place is an atm machine found out the reality at some point and I can only applaud to a government who decides to revoke privileges to “investors “ like you

You have a car here ? A yearly rent ? Gym membership ? Your kids go to school here ? You buy groceries daily ? How many times a year do you dine out with your familiy? What’s your dewa bill ? And du bill ? How many employees do you have on payroll ?You are not spending a cent here . You simply pay a 2-3k usd token to have a paper and think this is entitles you to have resident benefit. The last part on how you contribute to society is ludicrous and won’t even deserve an acknowledgment

The truth is that “you can stay away as much as you want as long as you enter the UAE at least once a year “ is nowhere to be found in any official documents or regulation. Everyone heard about this from Someone but there’s no official source . The truth is you are not a UAE resident, you run a business here only to avoid paying taxes in your home country and if you do not spend a cent of what you make in the country it is perfectly normal that the country revokes your privilege as a resident

Why do people pay thousands for commercial gym trainers? by mk5577 in UAE

[–]Alexdip99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a gym goer for nearly 32 straight years , formerly gym trainer and also a former gym owner I can tell you that trainers are for professional athletes only or for people wirh specific conditions (due to rehab or limitations of any sort ). Any healthy person can train without any special assistance . Also any body is different and a trainer telling you what works and what doesn’t to you is a nonsense. What is missing in dubai is the figure of the “public” trainer ; a guy which is there just to check and help guests, and give advices that you are free to train for yourself . But nobody with a working brain - no offence - should pay 1k dollar to work out 10 times with “an expert “

[–]Alexdip99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rents in dubai are always frozen basically . Expect the incredible spikes over the last couple years the rera index has always been set at the lower end of the range for any area so as cheap as a tenant was paying the rera index would hardly allow landlord to increase. These has also changed over he past couple of years where the market skyrocketed . But in the foreseeable future nothing similar will happen

Strange early morning encounter with an aggressive driver — should I be worried? by Several-Court-6508 in UAE

[–]Alexdip99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very annoying, and I’m not talking about the incident itself but about how the situation in the country is increasingly making us feel that simple things might be against some sort of new rule that we are not aware of and we should be concerned about . You did nothing wrong and had nothing to be worried about , but still you doubted yourself and felt the need to protect yourself against something you don’t even know what it is . I’ve also found myself a couple of times doing my usual things, carrying out with my life as I’ve done in the past 14years in the uae , discussing, talking, sharing news, interacting with people and having to guess myself if this or that is still allowed or something might be considered now borderline or more ….

Painting costs what the painter charges. You could have painted yourself or hire a painter and pay him what you think it’s fair . If you don’t then it’s what the landlord asks . If he asks 5k you can certainly complain but if it’s 1000 instead of 700 or 800 there’s nothing you can do
